Leading #YourSalisbury
Realizing our Vision in Salisbury Township School District
August/September 2017
Welcome to 2017-18!
We hope you had a great first week with our Salisbury learners! It is wonderful to have so much energy and excitement back in our buildings!
Because of you, our faculty and staff, our learners will be inspired to think, learn, and grow together this year.
Professional learning resources in one place!
This summer, we created a digital hub to collate our professional learning resources. You can view resources related to science, math, writing workshop, standards-based grading, and more! There is also a section for Instructional Assistants. If you have an idea for a topic for us to add, please let us know! (Thanks to Ross for designing this hub!)
Check it out here.
Book Corner!
Book Whisperer
Tweet a photo of reading in action (#YourSalisbury) and you may receive a copy of the book in your mailbox!
Mathematical Mindsets
If you would like to read along, send a tweet to #YourSalisbury and we will randomly distribute 5 books!
How to Personalize Learning
Develop your understanding of How to Personalize Learning with Barbara Bray on TLTalkRadio podcasts - Season 3: Episode 7 or Season 2: Episode 5 - where Randy and Lynn talk about her first book, Make Learning Personal.
Tweet why you want to make learning personal for students (#YourSalisbury) and you may receive a copy of this book!
Connections to the Learning Beliefs - Learner Agency
Question to consider: How might learners share their voices and engage in choice in your learning environment?
- Do your learners have the opportunity to choose free choice reading? Check out Thinking Outside the Bin: Why Labeling Books by Reading Level Disempowers Young Readers, which talks about leveling texts, not students.
- Competency Works is featuring a series related to Learner Agency. Learn more here.
- You can also read about about 5 Ways to Promote Student Agency on Ross's blog.
- Don't forget to check out all of the resources on our Digital Hub!
