A MESSAGE FROM MRS. CAUDILL
Northville kids amaze me. A while back, a senior from Northville High School (and former Bobcat), Kyle B., contacted me and said that he is a youth Education Leader for the Organization for Autism Research and wanted to give a presentation about autism to all of our 3rd - 5th grade classes. I was a bit skeptical at first, but after talking with Kyle a few times and meeting him in person, I knew our kids were going to be in great hands!
Kyle started giving his presentations this week to 5th grade classes. He read a story with our students in an inter-active style about a student named Nik who has autism. He presentation was about understanding autism and how to be kind and inclusive to everyone. Over the next two weeks our 3rd and 4th graders will get to hear Kyle's presentation as well.
I love that our kiddos were not only able to learn about Autism and inclusivity but were able to meet Kyle. I can see many of our young Bobcats one day wanting to give back and share their passions with others as not a day goes by that I do not see one of our older kiddos helping our littles. We truly have the best students - Northville kids amaze me :)
Stay well,
Devon Caudill

LEAD WITH YOUR HEART!
Throughout the month of February, Amerman will be celebrating kindness and understanding in many different ways. We are inviting all families to join in celebrating these habits and traits. You are invited to create and share hearts with us in a digital way. You can make your heart as simple or as fancy as you’d like. Please think of a few ways that your child has followed the 7 Habits and write them on the heart. Then, take a picture of the Valentine you created.
All Bobcat Families are invited to share how their child is leading from the heart! Some of our teachers may be asking you to send in hearts which you can do in addition to sharing them digitally. To share your heart digitally, all you need to do is take a photo of your child’s heart(s) and email them to Amermanannouncements@northvilleschools.org. We plan to share images of these hearts on daily announcements at the end of the month. We ask that all posts and photos be submitted by Monday, February 19th! ❤️
MULTILINGUAL BOOKS
Can You Help??
Hola families! We are creating multilingual sections in the media center and we need your help! We are looking for school-appropriate books in languages other than English or bilingual books. If you have gently used books at home that your family is ready to pass along, we welcome any donations! We are also looking for recommendations for multilingual books that your students would like to see in the library. Please send your suggestions and/or questions to our ESL teacher, Miss Margaret McNair mcnairma@northvilleschools.org. Merci! Gracias! Xièxiè

LEADER IN ME FEBRUARY FOCUS - HABIT 5
Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood
What this means: Listen before you talk. In order to communicate effectively, we must first understand each other.
“I listen to other people’s ideas and feelings.”
“I try to see things from their viewpoints.”
“I listen to others without interrupting.”
“I am confident in voicing my ideas.”
“I look people in the eyes when talking.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. Listen.
2. Put yourself in the other person’s place.
3. Notice a person’s body language, tone, and reflection in their voice.
