The newest member of the Hatherly School has arrived!

My dog, Macie, visited our school this morning. Macie is hypoallergenic. She and I have gone through extensive training and are certified as a therapy team. We have had the pleasure of visiting nursing homes as a team. Now, Macie will be visiting the Hatherly students. She enjoys listening to reading, sharing some love, and bringing smiles to faces.

Salad was grown right here at the Hatherly School!

Holly Hill Farm works with all of the students at the Hatherly School to grow a variety of vegetables. Each grade is in charge of growing a particular vegetable. This week the crops were harvested and served during lunch. Special thanks to Jon Belber, Holly Hill Farms, for introducing our students to this farm to table program.

Attention all fifth grade parents:

Next Thursday morning we will take some time to celebrate our students who will be leaving elementary school. The event will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. Please bring a chair and set up on the black top out back. PTO will be serving coffee starting at 9 am if you would like to come a little early. Classes will not be joining us due to space. However, siblings are more than welcome to join. You may have siblings arrive to school with you or enter through the front door and have them called to the office. If you choose to have a sibling join you, please have them reenter the building through the office at the end of the ceremony.

Field Day is Tuesday!

Field Day is this Tuesday! It is not too late to sign up to volunteer! There will be a morning shift and an afternoon shift. Please consider signing up for one or both shifts. When you arrive for your shift please check in at the table set up in front of school. You will be assigned your station then. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Grade 2 Field Trip

Grade 2 have been studying the ocean habitat. They explored tide pools at Minot Beach and had a fun time too.

Grade 3 Field Trip

On Monday, our 3rd graders took a trip through the history of Scituate. Students traveled to the Maritime and Mossing Museum, Lawson Tower, Cudworth Barn, the Mann House, and the Wildflower Garden. They learned so much from our resident town historians! We ended our day by having lunch at Lawson Tower and walking just under two miles back to school. We even had a special guest escort on our walk back to school —- Officer Sharry and Officer O’Shea.

Grade 3 Animal Research Projects

Grade 5 Field Trip

On Thursday, the Fifth Grade ventured to the New England Aquarium. While riding the commuter rail, the students listened to a safety presentation by the MBTA. They then explored the different parts of the aquarium and watched the Wings over Water IMax movie, which connected to our studies of biomes. Thank you to the Hatherly PTO for sponsoring this trip as well as all of the chaperones who volunteered.

Grade 5 Wax Museum

On Wednesday our amazing Fifth Graders held their Wax Museum. They amazed the visitors with their poise and skill in presentation. A few pictures of our famous Americans are attached.

Summer Book Swap

On June 24th, students will be able to go to the book swap and take home a free book to read over the summer! Depending on the amount of donations, we may be able to send children home with more than 1 book.

Enjoy reading your book this summer! If you finish your book and would like another, return your book to Hatherly School and pick a new book at our book exchange on July 12th from 9am to 11am!
