For those of you who are new to The Honor Roll School “Welcome to your new school!” If you are returning to THRS “Welcome back!” For those who do not know me, I am Elizabeth Romo, the school counselor. This is my 1st full year at THRS. I am married with 2 small children who both attend THRS. I love to travel, read, and learn about other cultures. I also love my job and the opportunities I have to work with students, families, and teachers each day.
As part of the school counseling program, I will be seeing your student’s class twice a month during their special area time to teach about topics such as social skills, conflict resolution, handling bullies, healthy lifestyles, personal safety, and study skills. Each grade level is introduced to the topics appropriate to their developmental needs. I will be sending monthly newsletters informing you of what will be covered in the classroom guidance lessons in each grade level as well. There will also be an opportunity for some small groups for behavior, meeting new students or addressing short term student issues. If you want your student to participate in these groups please contact me. If your child is recommended by teacher or administrator during the school year, I will send out another letter asking for your permission to work with your child in the small group setting.
Parent conferences and consultations are an important part of my job. So, if you have specific concerns about your child that may impact their school success, please give a call to set up an appointment. I am here each day from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and can be reached at 281-265-7888 ext. 1019. I do not answer the phone when I am with a student or classes, so please leave me a voice mail.
