The luckiest month of the year is rocking and rolling!
We have a short week this week, with Professional Learning for our staff on Friday, so that means we have a lot of learning to get done! I am loving what I am seeing in 6th grade Social Studies! They are working on Sketch Notes for different types of economies. Impressive! In 7th grade science they are digging up all the details on DNA! The scholars are loving it! Coach Scott organized an ELITE all school PBIS Celebration for Quarter 3 on Friday! Once again, the teacher team won and beat all the other teams! We had a DJ (Thanks Mr. Joyner!) and a concession stand (Thanks Mrs. Waddell and Ms. George) and all hands were on deck to make sure everyone had a great time!
Please help us with a new initiative-- saving COKE caps! On any COKE product, if you save the CAP and send it in, we can collect money--much like the BOX TOPS! Our Beta Club is in charge of this endeavor and a huge thank you to Mrs. Adams for getting this started!
Collect and send in your COKE caps!
Our May 21st field trip to Wild Adventures is a GO! This trip is open to all students! The trip cost is $89.00 and you can log into Kelly Tours and enter our trip number: 12193 to begin payments and get all the details. I will include the trip itinerary below!
Yearbooks are on sale for $40.00 Cash or Check-- due to Ms. KP! Checks made out to Bryan County MIddle School! You can find the link on our web page.
Also, we have added tabs to our web page where you can find more information about the awesome events and work we do easier! There are two new additional tabs, STUDENT INFORMATION and PARENT INFORMATION! Check it out!
Grades will be due by Friday this week and Report Cards will be ready to go early next week. This is the end of Q3 and these are the grades we will use for our yearly HONORS Celebration in the Spring.
Please take a minute to fill out this Title One Survey!
I can't wait to get this week started! Thank you for all your support!

Notes from Ms. Raeburn (The 10)
March: the month of LUCK
In March, my notes section will focus on the upcoming testing season
#ProjectLevelUP begins this week!
Beginning this week, scholars will participate in #ProjectLevelUP, focusing on GMAS skills, for our testing window that begins on April 30th.
It is important that our students know the format of the test. That is the focus of our curriculum for #ProjectLevelUP. We are focusing on the context of how questions will be asked and teaching and modeling exemplar responses.
We will run this project through the April 30th.
When we return from Spring Break, we will focus on adding constructed response practice to our closings in our classes.
We will also be meeting with scholars to review individually with them their GMAS results from last year and set goals for this year. We are setting the bar that ALL scholars shoot for "Leveling UP" and moving up an achievement level descriptor!
Other notes:
If you are interested in learning more about how to support your child with GMAS, you can check out this link here:
Click on the grade of your child and look through the resources available.
We would love to begin collecting snack donations for GMAS time! If you are willing and able to donate any of the following for your child's grade level team, please send it in to the main office labeled. Thank you.
Donations needed:
- Fruit Snacks
- Snack Crackers (Individually Wrapped)
- Granola Bars (any kind)
- Mini Waters
- Hard Candy (Jolly Ranchers, Mints, Cinnamons, Etc)
- Gum
We will have a celebration for all scholars who earned Proficient and Distinguished on last year's GMAS and we will have a whole school kick off on Friday April 27th.
GMAS this year is scheduled to begin Monday April 30th and run through May 11th.
We are very fortunate at BCMS to be almost 1:1 which allows us to test all our scholars in the morning!
We were able to do a full school RI (Reading Inventory) last week. Ask your child what their “number” is. The Lexile Stretch Band of where we need scholars to be is 997 for 6th grade, 1049 for 7th grade, and 1097 for 8th grade. A Lexile score measures a scholar's reading ability level. We will test again before GMAS and we will set goals for all scholars! If you would like a copy of this report, please contact us and we will send one home with your child.
TRIBE Shop is still open! See Ms. Shelby for GEAR and of course, we are always collecting box tops!
Thank you for being proactive and for supporting our school and our passion work! I am proud to be your principal and would love to hear from you! Please know that if you have a concern or if you hear something that doesn't feel right, contact me! eraeburn@bryan.k12.ga.us or 912-626-5050 or 912.255.0630 (Cell).
The Pageant is back! April 21st!
Which team will win the most POSITIVE contacts home? #MarchMadness #BeBCMS
