As we celebrate the holiday season, we reflect on 2018 with much gratitude. 2018 has been a year of tremendous growth for our San Francisco Bay Area chapter. We began partnerships with two new hospitals: UC Davis Children's Hospital in Sacramento and Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara! This expansion means that even more hospitalized children will benefit from our important services.

All of us at Dec My Room want to express our heartfelt thanks for your gifts throughout the year. As we bring smiles and comfort to more and more kiddos, your contributions are needed more than ever. At a budget of $300 per room, every donation is meaningful.

New Dec My Room volunteer Laurie HIggins created a magical llama and unicorn room for this darling kiddo. The fluffy llama was a huge hit!

• 57 kiddos had their rooms dec'ed so far this year, for a grand total of 180+ kiddos served!!
  
• 35 Dec My Room volunteers transformed the rooms of these patients at UCSF Benioff
  
• 17 Child Life Specialists referred patients for our services
  

Right before Halloween, this Warriors fan was our 100th kiddo at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. He got a super cool room decked out with Warriors fan gear, and Jack Skellington items to boot!

So far this year at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford, we're happy to report:

• 47 kiddos received decorated rooms, for a total of 105 kiddos served!
  
• 11 Dec My Room volunteers created healing places for these patients
  
• 12 Child Life Specialists referred their patients to us
  

The San Francisco chapter of Dec My Room partners with Child Life Specialists to create healing places for children in the hospital long term. Child Life Specialists are dedicated to reducing fear, anxiety and pain for infants, youth and families in the hospital setting. Our comforting, personalized rooms further the mission of child life by helping to minimize the trauma of prolonged hospitalization.

Our San Francisco Dec My Room chapter has established a goal that no request is ever denied. To achieve this we are 100% dependent on fundraising which comes from corporate giving, individual donors, sustained giving and in-kind donations. We are able to meet our goal though your generous contributions! We are deeply grateful for your ongoing support. We feature below some of the creative ways our donors contribute to our mission.

Our Junior Volunteers - Drake Goodman, Kent Goodman, Allie Vasquez and Bennett Vasquez - from Redwood High School in Larkspur absolutely crushed it this year! They organized a school-wide fundraiser through the Redwood High Leadership group. Redwood leadership students make up both the student government, as well as a group of students committed to bettering Redwood through various activities and events. They engaged the entire student body to raise money for Dec My Room, and to spread the word about our mission. Their month-long school-wide fundraiser generated nearly $2,500 to SF Bay Area Dec My Room! In addition, the Junior Volunteers raised over $550 at a bake sale at Woodlands Market in Tiburon. These kids know how to raise money!

We're so excited to announce our partnership with the Sharks Foundation! November is the Sharks "Hockey Fights Cancer" month of giving. Dec My Room was the beneficiary of TWO 50/50 raffles in November -- 50% of raffle proceeds comes to Dec My Room, and 50% goes to a lucky raffle winner. Our volunteers showed up to cheer on the raffle ticket sellers, and to tell Sharks fans about Dec My Room. The two raffles raised $13,530!

Why do these Dec My Room volunteers look so happy? Because they just helped the Sharks Foundation raise $6,900 in raffle ticket sales to benefit Dec My Room! These folks paired up with raffle ticket sellers at the Sharks game on November 6th. They told Sharks fans about Dec My Room's mission and encouraged them to buy tickets. Turns out our DMR volunteers have some mad sales skills, and there was fierce competition to see who could sell the most tickets!
