Uplift Hampton Preparatory H.S.
2019-2020 Dress Code Expectations
Fall/Winter Uniform Reset-beginning Monday, November 4th!
Scholars who are in non-correctable uniform violations will be assigned a detention and a parent phone call. Scholars with correctable uniform violations will be issued demerits, which could accrue to an assigned detention by the grade level chair.
Please note that with inclement weather approaching, scholars should purchase or acquire sweaters and/or jackets that align with our acceptable outerwear dress code. Please forward all questions regarding the dress code reset to Mr. Pena at jopena@uplifteducation.org.
Professional Dress Mondays
Professional Business Attire Expectations
- Navy blazer w/Hampton crest
- White Oxford button-up shirt
- Solid black or navy tie
- Solid white or black undershirt (or cami)
- Navy or black uniform pants
- Navy or black socks w/pants
- Solid black belt
Shoes
We are fairly flexible with scholar shoe choice, so long as it is a "shoe" (not sandals, flip flops, house shoes, etc.); however, boots are NOT allowed to be worn and scholars are NOT allowed to wear shoes with black soles due to the increased costliness of cleaning floors (black scuff marks).
Girls' Professional Business Dress Variances
- Tie may be plaid criss-cross in lieu of solid navy or black tie
- Plaid or navy uniform skirt may be worn in lie of navy or black dress pants
- White or navy knee-high socks w/skirt
Business Casual Dress Code Tuesday-Friday
What's the difference?
- Navy blazer w/Hampton crest is NOT required to be worn
- White Oxford shirt can be worn, but tie is NOT required
- Appropriate grade level-colored polo CAN be worn in lieu of white Oxford shirt
Approved Outerwear
For example, scholars cannot wear a sweater or jacket in lieu of either their white Oxford or appropriate grade level polo. The collar from the white Oxford or polo should still be visible when scholars are wearing approved outerwear.
Scholars are also allowed to wear an Uplift Hampton Preparatory letter jacket throughout the week with the exception of professional business dress Mondays!
Any unapproved outerwear worn within the building premises may be confiscated by a teacher and/or administrator. Initial collection of such items may be picked up at the end of the school day; however, multiple infractions may lead to escalated consequences including, but not limited to: demerits, referrals, detentions, suspensions, and confiscation of outwear requiring parent pickup.
Temporary Outerwear Exceptions
Please prepare for the possibility or removing these temporary exceptions in the 2020-2021 school year as it is getting increasingly more challenging to monitor violations. Purchasing outerwear through our uniform vendor, Levine's, is the best way to ensure your scholar remains in compliance with our dress code expectations.
As the weather continues to get colder, and as our building often fluctuates various temperatures throughout the building, we want scholars to remain comfortable; however, we are asking that this comfort aligns to with our stated outerwear policy, which has remained consistent without change for the past several years.

SENIORS First Friday
21 & Above Club
Beginning with this semester, all scholars that score a college ready composite score on an official ACT, which is 21 & above, will earn a special dress down privilege. Each of these scholars will be given "21 & Above Club" swag (such as a t-shirt). On Tuesday-Friday, scholars that have earned their way into this exclusive club will be given the privilege of dressing down IF they are wearing their designated "21 & Above Club" swag.
The "21 & Above Club" will receive additional privileges throughout the year; the earlier a scholar earns his or her place in this club, the more opportunities he or she will be able to receive. Please contact the high school academic director, Jeremy L. Green, for further questions.
Note: This privilege is contingent on remaining in good academic and behavioral standing on the campus. Administration reserves the right to revoke this privilege at their discretion.
