Memorial Day Parade
Last Monday, our nation paused to honor those military and first responders who protected our nation. In keeping with the tradition of Memorial Day, our marching band under the direction of Mr. Adams made its way down Rockaway Avenue through the center of town eventually ending up at our Village Green. The Memorial Day parade had not taken place in 2 years since the pandemic. Our marching band was the first elementary school band to march in the parade this year. Our students played America the Beautiful and the Marine Hymn. Thank you to Mr. Adams, Mr. Kalenowski, Mrs. Fernandez, Mr. Kalinowski, Mrs. Fischer, Mrs. Gorey and Mrs. Cooke.

Inter-District Collaboration
Title 1/ Title 3 meetings
Twice a year our school district hosts a Title 1/ Title 3 meeting explaining the services that students may receive should they require reading support and or ENL services. Our reading department created a PowerPoint and invited parents to Clear Stream to share how we support reading in school. Parents were encouraged to use some of our strategies to support reading at home. The staff reminded parents that the library is open and has several events, opportunities and workshops for students to engage in reading during the summer. Our ENL department reminded parents of the need to provide opportunities for students to explore and discover new activities over the summer. The pool is open and summer camps have a wide variety of games and stimulating activities for students. Should you have any questions about our reading or ENL services, please do not hesitate to contact the main office.
Field Day
Field Day this year went off without a hitch. We were lucky to have had the most gorgeous day to hold our school-wide field day. As everyone knows two days later, the Canadian forest fires produced a plume of haze over our city. Mr. Greiss planned nine activities for our students. As they rotated through each, students enjoyed competing against one another, discovering strategies to gain an advantage, and pure unadulterated fun! A particular favorite was the water games where students got soaking wet. A huge shout out goes to all of the teachers who volunteered, our secretarial staff that assisted with the schedule, and our physical education teachers ( Mr. Hansen, Mr. Clark, Mrs. Brady and Mr. Van Keuren) from our sister schools who kept the day moving fluidly.
The PTA is Hot !
Our PTA has been on fire! Last month they held a Scholastic book Fair which was highly successful. They also had a plant sale that sold out. But probably the most enjoyable event of the year was the Spring Dance! The theme of the dance was Step Into Spring! There were balloons in the shape of flowers sprawled all over the gym and scenes of flowers blooming on the ceiling. The PTA pre-sold 172 tickets, only to be met at the door by approximately 100 more patrons! The PTA did an amazing job of making sure that the students had fun, danced, ate and smiled. Students at one point danced the conga line to Follow The Leader. Big shout out to Mrs. Saint Simon, Mrs. Jugraj and Mrs. Hernandez who decorated the gym. And a huge shout out to Mr. Moore who DJ'd the night away.
If you would like to attend our installation dinner, it will be at Mia’s on June 15, 2023 at 6pm. Tickets are $40.

Custodial Milestone
A huge shout out and congratulations to Mr. Ron Lazo. Mr. Lazo just received his Masters of Science in Technology in the area of Facilities Management from Indiana University. Mr. Lazo currently works at Clear Stream as our night custodian. This achievement makes him the first person in his family to graduate from college. His mother was on hand to watch him reach this milestone. Mr Lazo said, "There were times that I wanted to give up but I owed it to myself to keep moving forward." Kudos Mr. Lazo, we wish you the best!
