Congrats on ANOTHER GR-eat Showing at the 6A State Competition on Friday and Saturday! You Swam Fast and With Lots of Heart, and it showed by you making it to the Saturday finals! We may not have medaled, but ending with 15th and 16th place out of the ENTIRE state of Texas for 6A is something to be super proud of! Thanks for letting me tag along and make some memories with you!
A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy Sunday GRHS Longhorns,
Friday wrapped up the 4th six weeks. Check out some of our GR-eat stuff we have going on! Our student led Black History Spotlights are still going on across the campus this month, our Academic Decathlon Team produced 3 medalists, a GR-eat showing from our GR Swim Relays at the State Competition, and our not one...but TWO All State Choir members and their adventure at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention this past week.
Parking permits are no longer available ONLINE for GRHS students. We only have 10 left, so these last few spots will ONLY be available in person on a first come first serve basis. Please have all supporting documents ready to go (valid drivers license, student's name listed as driver on insurance, and payment). Please email Delores Sanchez at dsanchez@lcisd.org for assistance and questions about this.
Course Selection and Counselor Schedules:
22-23 Course Selection is in FULL swing, which means our counselors are out of their offices MOST of the day. They meet one-on-one with EVERY student to ensure they are set up for success (and graduation) here at GRHS. In the interim, if you have a question, their awesome Admin Assistant - Mrs. Ware, will be happy to assist you/your child. Her contact info is here, nware@lcisd.org and will also be linked in the counselors "out of office reply" for easy access for you.
If you do not have an ID at this point, (because you have lost BOTH of them that we gifted you) you will need to purchase a new one for $5 in the library from 8:00-8:15am.
If you choose not to, there will be a HOLD placed on your account for the end of year. (exemptions/graduation/final grades, etc)
- No ID = No Tech! ID's are mandatory everyday! No more temporaries will be issued. If you need a NEW ID/Lanyard- can be purchased for $5 in the library from 8:00-8:15 daily! Lanyards/ID's should be on the second you step through the doors each day. Please make sure you are following this rule as well as being in dress code and to ensure that you are not written up for non compliance.
The front office is open daily Monday- Friday 8:00-4:00pm to assist you. You can also directly email us or call 832-223-4200 during the same hours. We are happy to help!

TWO ALL STATE CHOIR MEMBERS CHOSEN TO "REP" GR AT THE TEXAS MUSIC EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION CONVENTION IN SAN ANTONIO!
Last Week, senior Hannah Rice, a 2 year All State Choir Member and sophomore Crow Waters represented George Ranch High School as members of the All-State Treble Choir at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio.
These students were chosen for this prestigious honor through a competitive process held this year across the state at District, Region, and Area levels. Hannah Rice is a private voice student of Jennifer Frnka and Crow Waters is a private voice student of Dr. Kathleen Westfall and both sing at school under the direction of Charles Williams who is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, a 14,000+ member organization headquartered in Austin.
High school students selected to perform in the All-State concerts have competed through auditions to qualify at the state level. All-State is the highest honor a Texas music student can receive. 1,875 students are selected through a process that began with over 70,000 students from around the state vying for this honor to perform in one of 18 ensembles. Texas Music Educators Association sponsors the Texas All-State competition. This competitive process begins throughout the state in auditions hosted by 33 TMEA Regions. Individual musicians perform selected music for a panel of judges who rank each instrument or voice part. From this ranking, a select group of musicians advances from their Region to compete against musicians from other areas in eight TMEA Area competitions. The highest-ranking musicians judged at the TMEA Area competitions qualify to perform in a TMEA All-State music group. Only the top 2.6% of musicians who initially audition become All-State musicians.
These All-State students participate in three days of rehearsals directed by nationally recognized conductors during the TMEA Clinic/Convention. Their performances for thousands of attendees bring the extraordinary TMEA event to a close!
