Principal's Message...
As a reminder, there is no school Friday, Nov.11th for Veteran's Day. We hope everyone enjoys their 3-day weekend.
Tuesday, Nov. 15th-Friday, Nov. 18th are minimum days for Parent-Teacher Conferences. Students will be dismissed at 12:30pm. Please make your arrangements for after-school plans, as there is no supervision after 12:30pm on campus. Make sure your child knows where to go at the end of the day. Thank you.
Lost & Found: While you are on campus for your conference, please take a moment to check our Lost & Found for any items that may be there...we have A LOT, and will be bagging everything up to donate before Christmas break.
Sincerely,
Reagan Phillips

Library News
Hello Dragons!
I want to say THANK YOU again for all your support with our book fair. After finally closing everything out, we sold more than 900 books! Our goal was to reach 700 books sold. Our families are the best for supporting our school library. I love that our dragons will now have more books in their home collection. Our library is almost put back together and students will soon resume checking books out. AR prizes will be going out before our Thanksgiving break, the book fair set me back a little but I am working to get prizes ready. We have a fun week planned for next week. Remember, good things happen when you read!

Do you know your child’s behavioral stress response? Response to stress is a natural and often protective factor in threatening situations and lets humans know that there might be danger or something scary. Along with the physical symptoms such as increased blood pressure, upset stomach, diarrhea etc., there are sometimes BEHAVIORS that go along with elevated stress for children. Here are 3 types of stress responses and behaviors that might accompany them, in children:
FIGHT
Yelling, screaming or using mean words
Hitting, kicking, biting, throwing, punching
Blaming, deflecting responsibility or defensiveness
Demanding, Controlling
Oppositional, defiant, non-compliant
Moves towards what feels threatening
Irritable, angry, furious, offended, aggressive
FLIGHT
Wanting to escape, running away
Unfocused, Hard time paying attention
Fidgeting, Restlessness, Hyperactive
Preoccupied, Busy with everything but the thing that is scary
Procrastination, avoidance, ignoring situation
Moving away from what feels threatening
Anxious, panicked, scared, worried or overwhelmed
FREEZE
Shutting down, mind goes blank
Urge to hide, isolates self
Verbally unresponsive or says “I don’t know” a lot
Difficulty with completing tasks
Zoned out or daydreaming
Unable to move, feels stuck
Depressed, numb, bored, apathetic or helpless
Note: some people may fall into more than one response category and might have a mixed response. The next time you see these behaviors, you can explore what is feeling difficult or challenging with your child, then work to move out of the stress response and make a plan for safety and success. Thanks for being awesome!
I am here for you! Miss Alissa
