News for TMS Families Week of September 13, 2021
Principal Welcome
Dear Trailside Families,
Beginning next week, the newsletter will have grade level content updates every two weeks and department updates one time per month. We are trying to keep all of the school information in the weekly Timber Wolf Times.
On Wednesday, September 15th I will be hosting the First Parent Coffee at TMS. The topic for our first gathering is "Understanding the Developmental Needs of Your Middle School Child" After the presentation, there will be a Q and A session, followed by a tour through the school and classrooms. All visitors must be parents/guardians of students at TMS. Please bring identification with you in order to enter the school. Masks are required for all visitors. If you are not feeling well, we ask that you do not attend. Looking forward to meeting new parents and welcoming back returning parents. The coffee is from 9:30-11:00. Refreshments will be served. Please RSVP (click on the link) below by Tuesday at noon, so that we are able to prepare for our audience size.

Green Team--Parent Volunteers Wanted
Green Team
Did you know the average school throws away over 56,000 pounds of food and trash every year?
We here at Trailside Middle School want to help make a difference. We have started a Green Team to help ensure we are leaving a positive impact on our world.
Our initial goals are to compost and recycle over half of our waste and donate unopened food items to those in need.
We would love your help!!
We are looking for volunteers who can support over the lunch blocks to assist students in separating out the different categories.
We are also calling all parents/guardians and students to join us. Please fill out the form below and let us know what area you are interested in helping with.
Staff:
The Green Team is already off to a great start. It is awesome to hear the students asking if it can be composted or recycled at the end of lunch. Just the idea that they are starting to think about it, is a win!
Our initial goal is to have all students and staff successfully composting and recycling in the correct containers. Bins have been put in all the staff workrooms, kitchen, cafeteria, and FACS kitchen. Once we all get a good idea what goes where, we want to start making our own garden soil out of the compost. This will all be student led.
A quick guide:
Compost: Fruits & Vegetables and their peals, eggshells, and coffee grounds
Recycle: Water bottles, paper bags, cans, foil, paper products
Trash Can: Plastic baggies, greasy containers, and unfinished food
Thank You for all your support,
The Green Team

Harris Teeter Card
Beginning August 1, Trailside Middle School proudly joined Harris Teeter's Together in Education program to help raise funds for our school. It's easy and it's FREE. Simply give the cashier our code, 2529, and your VIC card when you check out and your card will be linked for the entire school year. That's it! You only have to link your VIC card once each school year. Once your card is linked, Trailside will receive a percentage of your Harris Teeter brand (Harris Teeter, T.T. Traders, Harris Teeter Organics, HT Farmers Market, and purchases in the HT Pharmacy) purchases credited back to our account.
This program does not interfere with your VIC savings or cost you any money!
Don't forget to link your VIC card to our account code next time you are shopping at Harris TeeterTMS Online Payment Portal
