Saxton Newsletter 21.10.22

Sadly, after 12 years teaching at Saxton School, Mrs Blades will be leaving us at Christmas. She has touched the lives of many children during her time with us and is much loved. She will be greatly missed. Further information about teaching in Willow will be given next half term.

We will be selling poppies and other items from Monday 31st October. Year 6 will be selling these first thing in the morning in each class. Please send any donations in with your child in a named envelope and marked 'Poppy Appeal'. Thank you!

Don't forget the FOSS dressing up event on Monday 31st October. Children are invited to come into school dressed on a Halloween theme (not too scary please!) in return for a donation to FOSS. This can be any amount over £1.

We have arranged a clothing collection for 2nd November. Please bag up any unwanted clothing. October half term would be a good opportunity to clear out those cupboards! The bags can be dropped off at school week before 9am on Wednesday 2nd November (please don't bring them earlier as we have no where to store them). If you would like to find out more information about the scheme please click the link below. Children will be bringing bags home w/c 10th October but you can still use your own too.

After half term we will be on Week 2 of the New Autumn 2 lunches menu.

Children can decide daily whether they are having a school dinner or packed lunch.

On Friday, 4th November our cook will be making a special bonfire themed lunch. There is no need to pre-order, children can decide on the day if they would like it.

Please ensure you discuss the menu each day with your child so they can decide what they would like to order. Once they know their choices, they will choose this each morning with their teacher during registration.

Each day there are 4 choices, either the hot dinner, hot vegetarian option, jacket potato with a choice of toppings or a sandwich. The sandwich and jacket potato always come with a selection of vegetables/salad on the side and have the full pudding choice for that day.

Packed Lunches - if you are sending grapes in your child's packed lunch, can you please ensure that these are cut in half.

We are delighted to be able to have volunteers into schools again, and would welcome parents to help us. If you are able to give any time to us, either on an ad-hoc or regular basis, you will need to complete a DBS application. Please contact the office for more information.

Don’t forget that if you use Amazon Smile and have registered our school for donations, FOSS will receive a donation. This is a very quick and easy way to make money for our children, so please do remember to keep checking that your orders have been placed this way.

Help raise money for FOSS and label your children's school items. The soft plastic labels can be stuck on machine wash-care labels of clothes, but can also be used on shoes, dishwasher items and general school items.

Please be considerate when parking near the school crossing. If parked too close it can be very difficult to see if it is safe to cross, particularly at pick up time-thank you.
