Hello Primary Pups!
Happy Fall Y'all!
Our Primary Pups just love this season! We ended October picking pumpkins in our Primary Pumpkin Patch, riding hayrides and petting animals at our annual field trip to Atlantic Farms, and dressing up and parading in our costumes during our Halloween Parade.
We are so grateful to our faculty and staff as well as our wonderful community members who made this month so special for our students. Thank you to Jeff Jannarone, our SEPAG Liaison and community member for donating all the pumpkins for our pumpkin patch and pumpkin carving. Thank you to the wonderful owners and employees at Atlantic Farms who were wonderful with our kids. The new and improved Atlantic Farm Market is an absolute delight! The animals are very well cared for and the property is clean and safe. As always, special kudos to our teachers and staff who always go above and beyond to make the Wall Primary School experience extra special for our Pups.
Another Halloween season is officially in the books. We are so grateful to our class parents who made Halloween a spooktacular experience for our Pups! Thank you to all of our WPS family members who came out to watch the parade. The kids really enjoyed being the stars of the show!
We are looking forward to November! We kick off the month's special events with picture day on 11/2 and election day on 11/7. Our Pups will get to vote in our very own voting booth! This year they will be voting on the holiday movie. We will share the results in our next edition. Don't forget that school is closed on 11/9 & 11/10 for the NJEA convention. November's Mindset is Attitude of Gratitude. Our Pups will be participating in school wide read-alouds (2 per month) that mirror this theme.
As we will only be publishing the Primary Pups Press, twice a month now, please be on the look out for the weekly blast, for quick reminders about upcoming events.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Embon

Rhyme Time
Rhyming is an important phonological awareness skill. It introduces children to the sounds in words and to identify patterns in spoken language. Rhyme Time activities will help children attend to and play with rhymes in fun ways.
A great way to introduce children to the concept of rhyming is through rhyming children’s books (exs: Is Your Mama a Llama?, Sheep in a Jeep, Goodnight Moon, Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?, Llama Llama Misses Mama) or rhyming songs (exs: Down by the Bay, Hickory Dickory Dock, Five Green Speckled Frogs). Before you read/sing talk to children about the concept of rhyming and give examples. When reading a familiar book or singing a familiar song, stop after rhyming words and ask them what words they heard that rhyme. You also can stop before reading/singing the second word of a rhyming pair, and ask the children to guess the word before continuing. As you do this more, children will gain a better understanding of rhyming words.

🦃 7 Mindsets: Attitude of Gratitude
The months of November and December are dedicated to the exploration of the mindset, ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE.
Through the ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE Mindset, we are taught that we can use either the positives or negatives in our lives as a foundation on which to build. Choose the positives, and we are on our way toward extraordinary success! By focusing on the things we have, there is no time to be distracted by what we don’t have.
4 Key Components:
- Treasure Yourself
- Be More Grateful
- Thank it Forward
- Elevate Your Perspective
WPS Food Drive - 11/6 - 11/20
Our school will be collecting food to benefit Fulfill (formerly the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean County). The dates for collection will be 11/6/23 through 11/20/24. Please send in non- perishable food items during our drive dates and we will donate the food to Fulfill to help ensure a happy Thanksgiving for all!
🥗 Staying Healthy During Cold, Flu, Covid Season
Suggestions to stay healthy during cold, flu, and COVID season are helpful during this busy time of year. Habits like frequent handwashing, exercising, eating a balanced meal, and getting plenty of rest are the best ways to maintain a healthy immune system. If you experience symptoms of a cold, flu, or COVID, please stay home. If you have a temperature greater than 100.0, you must be fever-free without fever-reducing medication for 24 hours before returning to school. Those diagnosed with COVID, whether it be symptomatic or asymptomatic, should be isolated for 5 days, beginning on the first full day of symptoms (or the day you were tested if asymptomatic), and may return to school on day 6 if symptom-free. If you have any questions, you can refer to the guidelines on the district website or speak directly with the School Nurse.
