We are already at the end of the first grading period, and the semester is flying by. Be on the lookout for the report cards in Skyward and communicate with your students’ teachers.

Safety and security remain a top priority, and we ask that our community continues to help keep our schools safe. Monitoring your child’s online presence is one way to keep them safe and out of trouble. Remember to report any suspicious activity to your campus administration or law enforcement.

There are a lot of events happening at our schools this month. Check your campus calendar and newsletters for details. We are always grateful for the support our families and community show our students and staff.

The Floresville Peanut Festival is almost here! I hope our students and community are able to spend quality time with family and friends and enjoy the four-day weekend next week.

FHS students Erisa Rodriguez, Vanessa Barrows, Karen Aparicio, Katybrie Pelham, Gabriella Gilliam, and Grant Hartmann were recognized by the Board of Trustees after they earned academic honors from the College Board National Recognitions Programs. They were honored for their strong performance in school and on assessments. Congratulations to all! We are proud of you!

Floresville High School will have a parent meeting about Dual Credit on Tuesday, October 17, at 6 p.m. in the FHS Café. The meeting will include an overview of Advanced Courses offered at FHS, student expectations, and advanced course policies.

Students and guardians are encouraged to attend. Enrollment for the 2024 Spring Semester will begin soon!

Though we focus on providing a safe learning environment for our students year-round, October has been set aside as a time to draw special attention to bullying prevention. Bullying may include in-person or online behavior and can result in higher school absentee rates, decreases student performance, and increases physical and mental stress.

Unity Day falls on October 18, 2023, and we want to encourage everyone to wear orange on this day to promote kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.

All families are encouraged to fill out the Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application, even if you know your family won't qualify or if students choose to bring their own lunch. Filling out the form is very important! Applying is crucial to ensure that FISD gets all the funding and benefits available to support teachers and students.

We proudly present the Floresville ISD Teachers and Students of the Month for October! Mrs. Sandra Solis, Pre-K teacher at the FECC, and Mrs. Quinn Garcia, 2nd grade teacher at FSE, were recognized this week by the Board of Trustees, as well as students Otillia Silva and Layne Flieller. We're celebrating National Principals Month! We thank Mrs. Heather Brooks, Mrs. Diana Wagner, Dr. Monica Schlueter, Dr. Joseph Farnsworth, Mr. Holden Barrett, and Mr. Rick Rios for their dedication and leadership. We appreciate all they do every single day for our students and staff. Thank you!

Mrs. Brandi Brown, 1st grade teacher at Floresville South Elementary, received the Community of Character Award for jumping into action on September 18 and performing the Heimlich maneuver on a colleague who was choking in the lunchroom.
