AHS Student Art Displayed at OKC Airport
Lily Anderson's and Sara Kirk's charcoal drawings of Jim Dine Inspired Everyday Objects were selected for a youth art exhibit at the Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City.
Their artwork will be on display from October 2023 - April 2024 in the OAEA Youth Art Gallery which is located on Level Two of the airport in the West Meet and Greet Lobby. Their artwork is displayed in a framed digital colored photograph of the original.
High School Art
High school art students painted an acrylic landscape of a specific place in Oklahoma. They were inspired by artist Wilson Hurley whose landscape paintings are displayed at the Oklahoma Capitol. Hurley was commissioned to paint the four quadrants of Oklahoma's diverse landscape and students mainly observed the painting Autumn Woods North of Tahlequah. Art students photographed a landscape that meant something to them and referenced their photo as they painted. They learned about space and perspective -- how cool colors move back and warm colors move forward and painted like the impressionists, who painted in plein-air, capturing the moment by portraying the light and color they saw. In a paragraph, they described the area or landscape and explained why they chose the area and why it is special.
