OCHS Principal's Update
December 2023
Grateful for our Knights!
After a long weekend spending time with my family and preparing for the Holidays, I was hit with the upcoming busyness of the season. While I know I will miss out on the rest that I enjoyed over the Thanksgiving break, I cannot help but be thankful for the coming times ahead! Thank you for all that you do to support your children in their school day and before and after school extracurriculars!
We have just three weeks until we all earn a well deserved break and even more time spending time with those that we love the most!
NSAA Reminds Us to , "Respect the Ref"
The winter sports and fine arts seasons are here! This past August, NSAA Assistant Director and Supervisor of Officials came to talk to O-C families about the current state of officiating in Nebraska. Last January, Mr. Neuhaus came to OCHS to to address all 7-12 students. This is a part of a statewide effort to recruit and support judges and officials for events. A local news story from NTV is posted below to learn more about this initiative.
School Permits, Learner's Permits, and Driver's Licenses
As a principal, I have spent many hours in the student lot supervising. As a parent, I am learning more and more about the steps a family has to take to have a fully permitted and licensed teen driver. I have a few links below that can provide information for you as a parent from the Nebraska DMV website:
https://dmv.nebraska.gov/dl/school-learners-permit
https://dmv.nebraska.gov/dl/school-permit
https://dmv.nebraska.gov/dl/learners-permit

A friendly reminder that the speed limit for all O-C patrons is 10 mph on school property.
Driver's Education will also be provided this summer at OCHS. Registration will begin at spring Parent Teacher Conferences.
OCHS Finals Schedule-December 20th and 21st
The end of the semester is quickly upon us! As we close out 2023, I would like to direct you to the first semester finals schedule by clicking here. Please encourage your children to begin preparing now by thoroughly completing their assignments and spending time each day reviewing notes and watching videos provided by their teachers. All finals must be finished before leaving for Christmas break. You will notice that there are office hours for students to request extra time to finish tests or prepare during finals week.
