What You Need to Know About the 2023 Bond Proposal
Staff Spotlight
Mr. Brian Tresnak
Mr. Tresnak is a History and English teacher at Dryden Junior/ Senior High School who started taking dual-enrollment classes through St. Clair Community College while in high school. He has a Bachelor's, a teaching certificate, and a Master’s degree from the University of Michigan- Flint. He has also taken graduate-level classes through Eastern Michigan University.
Mr. Tresnak loves doing activities outdoors, like biking and hiking. He also loves playing video games and board games when he can’t spend time outside. His favorite color is blue, and his favorite food is tacos. While still in college, he started coaching football at Dryden Junior/Senior High School. He said that he loved Dryden immediately. He states “The students and staff are amazing. They made us feel so welcome that we chose to move our family here. It's a wonderful community with a lot to offer”. He said that he grew up in a small town, so he loves the small town vibe that Dryden has and that it is awesome to be able to get to know your students and their families so well. He also loves the extracurriculars and classes that are offered at Dryden. He wants students to know that they should do what they love and they’ll never work a day in their life.
Students Say...
We sent out a Google Form with three questions for all of the students in Dryden Junior/ Senior High School about their favorite thing about Mr. Tresnak, their favorite memory with Mr. Tresnak, and the most valuable lesson they learned from Mr. Tresnak.
Liam Napolitano said that he likes how caring and nice Mr. Tresnak is. His favorite memories with Mr. Tresnak were when he would talk to him during elementary school, while Mr. Tresnak was the Dryden Elementary School principal. He learned to behave in elementary school so that he wouldn’t get in trouble.
Mike King said that his favorite thing about Mr. Tresnak is how friendly he is. Mike said that Mr. Tresnak has a really good personality and that he always has good conversations with them. Mike said that Mr. Tresnak has taught him how to write good essays. He stated, “Thank you, Mr. Tresnak, for all you have done”.
An anonymous student stated “Mr. Tresnak is a kind person who has many desirable traits and characteristics. For this reason, it is hard to decide what I like most about Mr. Tresnak. Mr. Tresnak is one of the better teachers in Dryden High School, meaning that other people most likely feel the same way and are indecisive about their favorite thing about this one-of-a-kind teacher. Like many, I am perplexed by the teaching abilities of Mr. Tresnak. He makes learning both fun and fulfilling. Shifting back to the topic of my favorite thing about him, it has to be how he is open to sharing his thoughts on how to improve our work. Unlike some teachers, Mr. Tresnak shares his opinions on his students' work, going in-depth on what errors were made and how to make our work more formal and concise to readers. Being both an English and history teacher, Mr. Tresnak is both a smart and interesting person to talk to. Speaking with Mr. Tresnak is speaking with a fun, well-mannered person who cares about you and your school experience” when asked what their favorite thing is about Mr. Tresnak. They continued by stating “Having a class with him for about eight months has taught me a lot about Mr. Tresnak and has given me the opportunity to have many memories of him. I came into class thinking that Mr. Tresnak was a rude, poor-humored young man. Later on, however, I realized that my previous thoughts were far from the truth. Mr. Tresnak makes the learning experience fun by creating projects for each of his students to participate in. These projects often lead to a great time in his classroom and teach a great deal of information. Making information both fun and easy to learn, Mr. Tresnak is truly a great teacher. Along with this, he often talks about sports and other topics of interest during our free time in class. With that said, I have more than one favorite memory of Mr. Tresnak. These memories are the times he has made learning both fun and worthwhile. As a typical student, learning with certain teachers can often be boring and dull, but Mr. Tresnak gives me a reason to stay awake and learn” when asked what their favorite memory with Mr. Tresnak is. Lastly, they stated “Being a teacher, Mr. Tresnak teaches his students many things. Even with so many things being taught, there is one thing that I consider to be the most valuable thing that I have learned about Mr. Tresnak. This information stood out from all of the rest while Mr. Tresnak was teaching, and that was how to write a persuasive essay. He told us that all you had to do was make it look like the information is correct, even when it may not be. He told us that it is just convincing the reader to agree with your opinions and to change their views if there already is one...In conclusion, I love how Mr. Tresnak is kind to each of his students and cares about each of them. I find his way of teaching fascinating because he makes learning both fun and meaningful. Mr. Tresnak is always open about sharing his thoughts on how our papers can be improved and makes the class even better by talking about sports or video games, two topics of interest among us teenagers, in our free time. Mr. Tresnak is truly a one-of-a-kind teacher and deserves the best in life. If you are reading this, Mr. Tresnak, thank you for all that you have done.”
Thank you to Mr. Tresnak and to all of the students who gave their feedback!
