Join us tomorrow morning for the Dual Language Immersion Parent Coffee Talk at Lower Campus
Hosted by Sandra Daniel, GLOBE's Director of Language Program, tomorrow's coffee talk will start at 8:30am in the Lower Campus Village Plaza. Both Upper and Lower Campus GLOBE families are welcome to join us. Visit the GLOBE website to watch videos and slides of recently held coffee talks.
Peace Week starts on Monday
This year, GLOBE are partnering with Atlanta Community Food Bank for a food drive. You can donate any items on the list during Peace Week, or donate virtually here. To check out ACFB's most needed items, click here. Students will be able to drop donations into containers on campus. Special Peace Week t-shirts will be handed to students next week for them to wear to school on Friday, November 3.
Volunteers needed to help make Peace Week a success
The school counselors at both campuses would love to have the assistance of some parent volunteers to help out with Peace Week activities. Please consider signing up here to help.
Finally, a big thank you to GLOBE PTCC for their support of Peace Week and helping to make these activities possible.
GLOBE Trot is right around the corner
There's just over two weeks to go until GLOBE Trot 2023 which takes place on November 10. The Lower Campus schedule is available here. The Upper Campus schedule will be released within the next couple of days. There are still opportunities to volunteer at both campuses. You can also still order GLOBE Trot spirit wear here.
Our goal this week is to reach 100% student participation in all GLOBE classes. Will you help us reach our goal by giving $1 to your student’s fundraising page (online, or bring to school). Your participation helps to fulfill our commitment to nurture and support one another which is reflected in our core value of Community. We can’t reach 100% without you!
You can find your student’s fundraising page here. Don’t forget to share the page link with family, friends and community members to help us reach our goal!
If you have any questions, please contact Adrienne McMillon. An informational flyer that answers many frequently asked questions about GLOBE Trot, can be downloaded here.
Campus notes
Costumes on October 31
We are permitting students to wear a costume to school on Tuesday, October 31, with the following guidelines. The costume must not contain a mask, props, loose articles, be gory or violent in nature, or have any other aspect that could disrupt the classroom learning environment. We know, of course, that many costumes come with additional items, just please leave them at home. Costumes are optional; students may wear their uniform or spirit wear instead.
Lower Campus
No Pet Policy
After recent events during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal, we wanted to bring to your attention the following policy in this year’s Student and Family Handbook regarding pets. “Only certified service animals are permitted on school premises. Certified service animals are required to wear a vest or other ID that indicates they're a service dog. Families and students are not permitted to bring any other animals anywhere on either campus. Many GLOBE students and staff are allergic to animals and many students have a fear of certain animals.”
Black History Month Co-Chair Needed
Although it’s not until February, planning for Black History Month will soon commence. We’re looking for a parent/guardian of a Lower Campus student to serve as a co-chair, joining a group of other parents/guardians and staff members. Please send Ms. Blunt an email if you are interested as serving as co-chair. If you’re simply interested in serving on the committee, please sign up here.

Art
Walleyes exhibit
On display in the eighth grade hallway is an exhibit of eye collages created by 7th and 8th grade art students. It's pretty cool, and a little spooky! Thanks to 7th grade students Carmina, Clara, Leala, and Hana, for helping to organize and display the work.
Square 1 Art
We are excited to partner again with Square 1 Art to provide a way to share your child’s art with family and friends. Square 1 Art is a school fundraiser that allows students to create gifts and keepsakes with their own art on it. A portion of the proceeds return to The GLOBE Academy for use in the Art department. Artwork is in the process of being uploaded. Please check the Square 1 Art website over the coming week to view your child's artwork.

Volunteer hours can help GLOBE receive grants
Did you know that when you volunteer, it can help GLOBE receive grants? Some donors want to know how involved the community is. We can show them that parents are invested in the school by sharing the volunteer hours we have tracked. So please remember to log your hours here. When you log your time, you'll also be entered in our drawing for a volunteer-of-the-month carpool flag. As a reminder, each family is requested to volunteer ten hours each year. To see current volunteer opportunities, click here. Thank you for volunteering at GLOBE.
Volunteer for Coffee Talks
There are several upcoming coffee talks that need volunteer support. Please check out the upcoming dates and sign-up to volunteer.
Shopping can help GLOBE!
Did you know when you shop at places like Publix, Kroger, and OfficeMax/Office Depot, they will donate to GLOBE PTCC? To find out how to easily set this up, click here. Every penny counts!
