Superintendent Search Update
The Bremerton School Board will announce the names of the three superintendent candidates on Monday, February 27. These candidates will be visiting the District on February 28, March 1 and March 2 (one finalist per day.) After a full day of touring the district and meeting students and staff, we will host a community forum (in-person and on Zoom) each evening from 5-5:45 p.m. to provide an opportunity for everyone to meet and provide feedback on each of the three finalists.
Reminder: Staff, students, families and community members are invited to submit questions for the finalists ahead of time and we’ll work with our consultants to narrow the questions down for the forums. We’ll do our best to cover all questions submitted but we only have an hour, and we have to ask the same questions of each finalist. We will accept questions through Monday, February 20.
On Friday, March 3, the Board will meet in a special session at 9 a.m. to announce the name of the finalist selected to serve as the next Superintendent. This meeting is open to the public and will be in-person and on Zoom. A public announcement will follow.
We hope you will be a part of this important process and will join us for the community forums! Please visit www.BremertonSchools.org/Sup-Search for meeting details and updates.
Reminder: transportation updates are at your fingertips!
As we work to navigate challenges due to our ongoing bus driver shortage, we want to remind families that our transportation updates webpage is updated daily with route changes. You can access this page at www.BremertonSchools.org/BusUpdates. There are also links to the transportation updates webpage under "District Quick Links" on all websites (see screen capture on the left), and in every BSD Family Update newsletter.
We typically do not do "robo calls" for bus delays because with the time it takes the system to complete all the calls, the message could be outdated by the time it is received. We will send out emails and texts to alert families of substantial delays or route changes as soon as possible - whenever possible. If you are not signed-up to receive text messages from the Bremerton School District, please contact your child's school to opt-in.
Bus route changes and delays are also posted on the District and schools' Facebook pages.
Please note that our transportation office staff are often out driving routes and may not be able to answer your calls immediately. We encourage you to check our transportation updates webpage for the latest information before calling our office, or if you are unable to get through when you call.
Are you (or do you know someone) interested in a job with competitive pay, paid training, summers off and great benefits? Please visit our website for more information on becoming a bus driver!
We thank you for your patience as we work to get all students transported safely and in a timely manner.
Childcare available on Monday, February 20
Our childcare partner Right At School is offering full-day childcare on Monday, February 20 for all kindergarten through sixth grade students in the District. Students to NOT have to be currently enrolled in Right At School to participate!
