I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. It seems that flu, cold and Covid season is upon us. Last week, our attendance for both students and staff reflected the uptick in flu/cold/covid cases. Please know we are doing everything possible to curb the spread of any virus. There are masks and antibacterial gel available for all staff and students. Although not mandatory, if your child would like to wear a mask, there are plenty of masks for them. Please see the guidance regarding illness. Even if your child is negative for covid, DOE policy requires they be fever free for at least 24 hours before returning. Last week, our Student Council held their first event Spirit Week! It was so much fun, and definitely eased us back to school after the Thanksgiving break. Check out the video below.

We also had a visit from the 104 PCT and the K9 unit, with Officer Mia! Our students got to meet Mia, an NYPD officer. We learned that all of the police dogs are named after fallen officers. K9 Mía is an Explosives Detection&VaporWake Canine. She is named in Honor and Loving Memory of Det.Miosotis Familia.

This week we have another busy week! With only three more weeks left of school for 2022, we are getting ready to kick of 2023!

The PS 88Q community suffered a terrible loss this week. One of our own, paraprofessional Peter Natale passed away. He was an incredible educator and dedicated champion for our students. We all had the pleasure of working with him. When you work together, for as long as some of our staff, colleagues become more that colleagues, they become family. Especially through the pandemic, when the entire community leaned on each other, Mr. Natale was amazing.. He will be missed, but his legacy is eternal. He has impacted the lives of us all. We are so excited for this years Computer Science Week! Each day (Monday, Tuesday 3:45-4:45, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 2:30-3:30) we will be celebrating with The Hour Of Code! Mr. Nolan. Details are below, as is the permission slip for this week.

The week of December 5 - December 11 is Computer Science Education Week. In celebration of Computer Science Week, P.S. 88 Q will be hosting an hour of code the week of December 5, 2022. We are inviting students and parents to come and join us for a coding experience. The schedule is as follows:

We are excited to announce kindergarten applications are about to open later this week. We are hosting a series of events in preparation for kindergarten applications, from open houses (in person and virtual) as well as a future family meet and greet.
