John Rogers Elementary PTA
January 11, 2023
Welcome to the John Rogers PTA newsletter! It’s one of the many ways we keep in touch with our community.
You can also go to our website (above link) and if you're on Facebook, join our private Facebook PTA page (below link) for up-to-date info on all the happenings around our school.
What is a PTA?
It’s a Parent Teacher Association… a group of teachers, parents, guardians, staff, and families discussing school matters! We have meetings throughout the year to answer questions, discuss school issues, let our voices be heard, and more! We fundraise and organize volunteers to supplement what the school and district provide to enrich our students’ experience at John Rogers. Attendance at meetings isn’t required & most will be hybrid (in-person and online via Zoom).

Exciting stuff happening outside the main office!
Did your kiddo tell you about the salmon egg delivery? If not ask them! By now most kids will have seen the small, red, salmon eggs resting among the rocks and gravel. You can already see the eyes forming inside the eggs. We expect the eggs to hatch into the alevin stage (yolk sack still attached) in about 6 weeks. The temperature of the tank is hovering right around 48 degrees F. Nice and chilly - just like they like it! These are coho eggs. When the fish reach a specific size this spring, they will get released into the wild to finish out their life cycle.
Water and salmon are integral to life in the PNW, and the kids will be fortunate to experience this journey.
eggs already have eyes!
special thanks to Ms. Clemons and Vanessa Tuttle and her husband for making this happen and taking care of the fish!
