NEW YEAR, NEW DECADE
Welcome to 2020!
With a new year and a new decade, the best is yet to come. Our collective goals are the same, however, everyone is encouraged to bring a renewed enthusiasm for reaching those goals together. Thank you to everyone that joined in the spirit of giving during the holiday season. For every gift, donation, encouragement, time, and thought given to me, teachers, staff, and others, thank you!
Progress Check
January marks the midpoint of the school year and provides an optimum time to assess the academic progress of our scholars. Parents, please ensure that scholars are on time, well rested, nourished, and encouraged to do their very best. Assessment results will be used to design instruction to meet scholars' individual and collective needs. Parents are encouraged to engage with their scholar's teacher at the conclusion of our mid-year assessments.
Policy/Procedure Reminders
Arrival
In the interest of safety, students are not allowed in the building until 7:10am unless accompanied by a parent.
Field Trips
Scholars must wear maroon polo shirt and khaki or black bottoms on field trips. This is in the interest of student safety.
Instructional Time
To allow instruction to begin at 7:20am, parents are asked not to enter grade level hallways after 7:20am.
To Be A Tiger
Parents, please reiterate our school's expectations with your scholar.
T - take responsibility
I - integrity
G - goal driven
E - engage in positive interactions
R - respect
Extra-curricular
Stonewall Tell offers a diversity of opportunities for students to develop themselves in addition to academics. Examples include Nat'l Beta Club, Ambassadors, Safety Patrol, Robotics. Chess Club, Math Club, Garden Club, Chorus, Performing Arts and more. Look for information to come home at the beginning of September for various club opportunities.
Class Dojo
Have you been invited by your scholar's teacher to join Class Dojo? If not, please inquire or you will miss some important updates, current happenings, and emergency notifications.
We need 3 from every familiy!
- Join the PTA. Your memberships provides access to resources and recognition for your child and their school. Also, your membership enables support and encouragement for child's teacher throughout the year. Without it, neither is possible. https://thestonewalltellpta.memberhub.store/
- Register as a volunteer (See Elaine Perryman). The number of registered volunteers per school represents strength. How strong do you want Stonewall Tell to be? https://www.fultonschools.org/site/Default.aspx?PageID=9539
- Volunteer! Volunteer at least 1 hour per month. Increased parent/volunteer presence in schools literally means tangible support for teachers, improved outcomes for students, improved climate/culture, and dollars. Every volunteer hour is literally equatable to money saved and contributed to Stonewall Tell.
REQUEST FOR FLEXIBILITY
Currently
- Tuesday, May 19, 2020 is a Digital Learning Day (students do not physically report to school but are responsible for virtual assignments) according to the official FCS 2019-2020 calendar
- Per FCS Charter District guidelines, schools may request flexibility in order to change May 19, 2020 to a regular school day (students physically report to school).
- A thirty (30) day public forum has been opened to allow stakeholder input for School Governance Council (SGC) consideration.
Rationale
- Align attendance within the Westlake High School cluster with respect for student supervision, exams, etc
