Read-A-Thon LAST DAY!
The Read-A-Thon closes tonight at midnight! We’re so proud of our Eagle readers for all the minutes they’ve read so far. They’ve already earned an extra recess and are on the road to earning one or both of the other prizes! A few last minute details:
You have until midnight tonight to log minutes into your Pledgestar account.
If you've been recording minutes on a paper reading log and didn’t turn it in to your teacher today, you may email a photo of it or send your student’s name, teacher and total minutes to stephanie.m.vallance@gmail.com by Sunday morning.
If you've been collecting cash/checks using the paper pledge sheet, please return the labeled pledge sheet with cash/checks securely attached to the main office today or next week.
Final, school-wide minute total and prizes earned will be announced by Mr. G. Monday morning before school, and in an email during the school day on Monday. Don't miss it!
Movie Night Tonight
Movie Night is on tonight, Friday, February 2! A free community event hosted by the PTA, this time we’ll be showing Leo. See all the details below:
Where: School Cafeteria
When: Friday, February 2. Doors open and disco party at 6pm, movie begins at 6:30pm. Use the cafeteria doors behind the school for entry/exit.
Who: Irvington students and their families! Children MUST be accompanied by an adult.
Food and Drink: Free popcorn provided! Please bring your own water bottles filled with water only. Picnic dinners are ok, too. Thank you in advance for cleaning up after yourselves.
Seating: Bring a blanket or camp chair to sit on. Cafeteria tables are also available.
Disco: Enjoy some fun lights, music and dancing before the show and during a short intermission.
Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run participant registration is opening soon on February 21! You will be able to sign up here. A lottery system is run for the first 7 days of participant registration. This is an equitable system that all GOTR programs use. Families will be notified of registration status soon after the lottery. After that, the remaining spots are first come, first served. We are so very lucky to have enough coaches for 30 participants, so I am hopeful that you will have a spot if your child is interested! Practices will be Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:00-4:45pm, starting March 19. Email Carolyn Sykes (csykes@pps.net) for questions.
Winter Walk + Roll to School Day
The Green Team invites all Irvington students to try walking, biking, or rolling to school on Wednesday, February 7!
Join a walking group:
8:25am - NE 7th & Stanton
8:25am - NE 7th & Thompson
8:20am - NE 24th & Brazee (this one meets every Wednesday!)
If you live too far to walk or bike, consider parking a few blocks away and walk in from there. There will be some small prize giveaways & snacks at school for all!
