For CURRENT 9th - 11th Grade Sundevils

When will I meet with my Counselor for course selection?

Students will meet individually with their counselor to discuss course selection for next year. Meetings will take place during their English class, see schedule below. Please be prepared to choose your 15 classes.

STEP 2 - View your grade level CRW - Course Request Worksheet below. You will use the course numbers listed on the Course Request Worksheet to enter your selections in Synergy.

You need to know what you've taken in order to choose what's next! How to read your course history on Synergy Student VUE.
Highlight the desired courses on your Grade level CRW.
Enter your selected courses in Synergy How to enter your course selection (video) Online course entry instructions (printed)
Consider your choices carefully, changes may not be possible once the Master Schedule is set.
If you are taking an AP (Advanced Placement) Course you need to complete an AP Contract.

Counselors will be meeting with you individually in your English class (either tri 2 or tri 3) to discuss your questions and course choices.

PVC Poway Virtual Courses

PVC courses are entered in a different process. click here for PVC COURSES and instructions.

PVC courses do NOT have live instruction on zoom each day but they do have required weekly assignments that must be completed on time.

Taking Classes Outside of PUSD

ALWAYS SEE YOUR COUNSELOR FIRST! Use Permission form. Some classes will not meet graduation requirements, nor earn you credits. If you plan to take a foreign language course outside of PUSD you will also need this form.

American Sign Language - This course will be Dual Enrollment with Palomar College, more details coming soon.

AP Pre Calculus - This course is designed to prepare students for other college-level mathematics and science courses. Students will explore everyday situations using mathematical tools and lenses. They will develop an understanding of modeling and functions, and examine scenarios through multiple representations. The course framework outlines content and skills needed for careers in mathematics, physics, biology, health science, social science, and data science. This course will be submitted to the University of California for approval in the “C” requirement, Mathematics.

Repeating a D grade

4 year colleges and universities do not accept "D" grades. In most cases, you will need to repeat any A-G class in which you earned a grade of "D" or "F". If you cannot fit a repeat class into your trimester program, you should see your Counselor to inquire about summer school.

What exactly is a College Elective?

Category G, in the A-G requirements, is listed as "College Elective". A College Elective can be a specific class like Psychology or Sociology, or it is a course that exceeds the minimum amount of coursework in a certain subject area. For example, if 3 years of math are required, a 4th year of math can count as the College Elective (G).
