Morning Drop-Off Procedures
We had a great first week of school! Transportation issues typically take a couple of weeks to resolve themselves, but we are well on our way. There are a couple of key points we need to remind everyone of, pertaining to morning drop-off. ALL students being dropped off before school (8:20) need to be dropped off in the upper parking lot by Door 18. PLEASE do not drop students off in the elementary parking lot--this area is reserved for our busses and staff parking. We continue to see some guardians dropping off students in the bus lot. Elementary students will walk down the sidewalk to the playground. On inclement weather days students will be allowed to walk through the school, once they are dropped off at Door 18.
After 8:20, school has started, and the busses will all have exited, so students must check in at the office. After 8:20, you may enter the elementary lot to drop off students and check them in. Thank you.

Curriculum Corner
Hello Oak Grove Community,
This year one of our main focuses as a school district is to develop a stronger understanding of how to meet the social and emotional learning needs of the children in our school. As we begin this school year, it offers us the opportunity to rethink our words, actions, and thoughts. One of the ways we can reframe our thinking in a more positive direction is to express gratitude towards the people we encounter, especially when we may normally find ourselves apologizing.
How often do you find yourself late for something and your first reaction is to apologize for your tardiness? Instead of saying, “I’m sorry;” you could say, “Thank you for waiting for me.” By demonstrating these acts of verbal kindness, we are modeling for the young people around us, that we appreciate others and think of our missteps as opportunities for growth and gratitude. The more our children see us using positive language, the more inclined they will be to use it as well.
Thank you for doing the best you can each day.

After School Study Hall
If you are interested in having your student stay after school for a study hall, please contact Dr. Lemon. If there is enough interest, Oak Grove may offer an after school study program. In order to fund the program, we need a minimum of 6 students to participate on a daily basis. It would be a study hall only atmosphere, instruction will not be provided. This would be a separate program from Mr. Rendon's Extended Day care. If you have questions, or are interested, please contact Dr. Lemon via e-mail at lemon@ogschool.org
