Dear Parents, Students, and Families,

I hope you and your child enjoyed April break. It is hard to believe we only have a few more weeks and summer break begins. In the meantime, there are a lot of activities as we approach the end of the school year. Our students are preparing to take their end-of-the-year certification exams and if they successfully pass these exams, they will have earned a credential of value that will help them if they are pursuing employment or continuing their education. This is one of the significant benefits our students gain at COT setting them apart from their peers. Many of our students also have earned college credit with us which can save them time and money.

Speaking of saving money, Governor Mills' supplemental budget has been passed by the Legislation. Within the budget, they passed free community college tuition. If your child is planning to attend a Maine community college, here is a great opportunity to save money on tuition. If your child has been accepted at a community college, you should contact the college for more information regarding this new initiative.

Regardless of the free tuition offered through the Maine community college system, SCHOLARSHIPS will continue to be available to all students planning to attend a 2 or 4-year college. Please encourage them to complete the many applications available on our school website. Also, if your child is planning to go into an apprenticeship or directly into the trade, we have scholarships for tools. On May 26th, we will hold our End of the Year Ceremony. During this time we will recognize our program completers and seniors. A program completer is a student that successfully passes a one-year program or a two-year program. Scholarship Awards are also announced at this time. So please save this date and join us to celebrate our student's hard work and achievements.
