The SHS Chess Club holds blitz chess matches in the Commons every Friday morning at 7:00. Blitz chess is fast paced and exciting. Come out and join us!

Support the Beta Angel Tree

The Angel Tree is live in the SHS Media Center. Please consider signing up to provide gifts for a local child. Gifts are due to room 13 no later than Monday, December 12 (unwrapped or in a gift bag). Contact Mrs. Eng with any questions (jeng@iwcs.k12.va.us)

CTE Open House

Business owners, economic development and workforce partners, community members, parents and students who want to learn more about the innovative and award-winning Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs offered by Isle of Wight County Schools are invited to attend a CTE Open House on Tuesday, November 29th and Wednesday, November 30th, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Smithfield High School, Windsor High School and Windsor Elementary.

Senior News

Jostens will be at SHS for cap and gown orders on Thursday, Dec. 1, during lunches (10:30 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.)
Senior dues are $75. Cash, check and money orders are accepted.

ASVAB on Dec. 6

What is ASVAB and who should take it?

The ASVAB, Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, is a test that measures abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. It is also a highly effective career exploration exam for those students not wishing to enter the military but hoping to figure out the best career pathway available to them. This test is recommended for 11th- and 12th-grade students and there is no cost to take this test.

Test date and registration

The ASVAB will be given on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 7:45 a.m.
Students MUST sign up by Tuesday, Nov. 29, via the Google doc.
The test may take up to three hours
SPACE IS LIMITED SO THOSE INTERESTED NEED TO SIGN UP RIGHT AWAY. The link to sign up has been sent to student emails.

Softball Interest Meeting

There will be a softball interest meeting on Monday, Nov. 21, at 3 p.m. in room 40. Any girls interested in trying out for softball should plan on attending. The meeting will last approximately 15 minutes. Please make arrangements to have transportation pick you up promptly at 3:15 PM.
