MST Weekly Update
January 19, 2024

Good afternoon to all of our MST family members.
With one week left in the second quarter, students should be working diligently to be caught up in all of their classes. As hard as it is to believe, half of the school year will be over on Friday.
This week you will find information below about Access Academy, a great opportunity that St. Anselm College offers to Manchester High School students. Every semester, MST has the largest enrollment in this program and the students who attend absolutely love it. You will also read about a conference that several MST students attended last week.
A reminder that Tuesday, January 23rd, is the presidential primary election day and all Manchester Schools are closed for that day.
Access Academy
Marine Biology, Introduction to Photography, Introduction to Computer Technology, and Creative Writing are just a few of the courses available to MST students who enroll at Access Academy.
Access Academy is an after-school program at St. Anselm College designed for high school students to gain confidence in their skills and abilities, make new friends, experience a college campus, learn from college students, and earn high school credits. Access Academy is open to Manchester high school students! Classes, dinner, and transportation to and from campus are all provided at no cost to students.
Classes are offered on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. Students can sign up for one day or both days. Access Academy classes run from approximately 4:15 pm until 6:00 pm on each day. All classes take place at the Saint Anselm College campus. Classes start on February 5th and end on of May 6th. A full schedule of the semester can be found on the page below.
Buses will pick up students after school between 3:45 pm and 4:00 pm and bring them to the Saint Anselm College campus. At 6:00 pm, students will board the bus at Saint Anselm College and be dropped off at West, Central or Memorial between approximately 6:15 and 6:30 PM
The completed application (below) must be turned in to Ms. Stephen by Monday January 29th. Space is limited in the classes, so act quickly!
Civics and Civility Conference
On Thursday January 11th, over 20 students from MST joined high school students from all over NH at the Civics ad Civility conference in Concord, NH. The event, sponsored by the National Presidential Youth Convention, was aimed at fostering a civil approach to talking about politics and major issues facing our country.
Josselyn Ascencio and John Alade, both high school representatives on the Manchester Board of School Committee, were in several panel discussions during the event.
FAFSA Confirmation/Waiver Form
Attention Class of 2024! The FASFA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is now open at Log In | Federal Student Aid. Please make sure you start your FASFA ID (how to video using this link How to Create an Account and Username (FSA ID) for StudentAid.gov (youtube.com)) in the next few days because it takes 3-5 days to process. Granite Edvance is available to help families navigate the application. You can schedule an appointment through this link https://calendly.com/graniteedvance
This year, all NH 20204 graduates are required to complete the FAFSA form, or file a waiver form, in order to receive a diploma. The form, that is available below, is completed to verify that you submitted the FAFSA form, or it allows you to request a waiver from the FAFSA. Please print the form, complete it and have your child turn it in to their counselor. This form is for 2024 graduates only!
It is highly recommended that all seniors, and their families, complete the FAFSA even if you are not yet certain about your plans beyond high school. You may be surprised to find out how much aid you are eligible to receive and that may change your thoughts on your future.
8th Grade/CTE Open House
On Thursday February 8th, we will holding our annual open house for any 8th grade student, and their parents/guardians, who is interested in attending MST High School next year.
This evening is also the open house to come and visit our Career and Technology Education (CTE) programs. The event is for any 9th or 10th grade student from any Manchester high school as well as Bedford, Goffstown and Londonderry. It is an opportunity for students to see the classrooms, meet the teachers and ask questions that will help them to decide which 2-year program is best for them.
The open house will be from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. We hope to see many of you there.
Winter Weather Update
The Manchester School District announces closures and delays on WMUR-TV, 95.7 WZID and it sends out direct text messages. If there is a 2-hour delay, MST's day begins at 9:50 AM with all students reporting to Advisory for attendance. Period A high school classes and Block 1 CTE classes are cancelled. Students will report to Period B1/Block 2 at 10:00.
Whenever school is cancelled, we return to the day that was missed. For example, this past Tuesday was supposed to be a Blue day, but we had a snow day. When we returned on Wednesday, we came back to a Blue day and then the rotation continues as normal. By doing this, we never miss too many of the same color day.
