The D123 PTA Council has revealed the recipients of the 2023 Helen Whalen $1000 Scholarship, honoring the legacy of a devoted PTA member and President of the D123 Board of Education who served School District 123 for four decades. This year's winners, Ashley Argueta, Alexis Dunaway, and Makayla Henry, exemplify Helen Whalen's dedication to making children "Priority #1."

Hometown Elementary enjoyed a school-wide character education assembly this week that centered around The NED Show. NED is a loveable cartoon character whose name is an acronym for Never give up, Encourage others, and Do your best. The NED Show is simple, relatable and kid-focused.
This week Covington participated in Empathy Week. It was a week filled with fun themes such as,pajama day, hawaiin day, twin day and even sunglasses day! With each day having a special theme students were able to make connections with the theme on how to show more empathy towards others.
OLHMS Concert Band and Chorus did it again! Another SUPERIOR rating was achieved at the Illinois Grade School Music Association (IGSMA) State Festival on Saturday, April 29th! The Concert Band performed at Lockport High School in Lockport, Illinois while the Concert Chorus performed at Lisle High School in Lisle, Illinois.
