PRINCIPAL'S NOTE
We have certainly gone from one weather extreme to the other in little over a week! This week, we began our scheduled sledding at recess. Each class has a designated sledding day, when their teacher has recess duty. We will keep our "mountain" open as long as conditions allow. Unfortunately, we've had to suspend Mile Club during recess because the path is too icy. Let's hope for more snow soon.
Excitement is building for our Read-A-Thon! Don't forget to share your favorite picture of your child reading at home. We're eager to post them on our web page and Facebook. PTA is still looking for a few volunteers to help with making popcorn and delivering treats to classrooms. If you have some free time on Friday, February 17th in the afternoon, please contact Callie Wells at itscallie@gmail.com.
Remember the annual Dickie LeMont "Take a Kid Fishing" family ice fishing derby is being held on Sunday. I know how much our students enjoy this time-honored event. Good luck to those participating, and stay safe on the ice!
VALENTINE'S DAY CELEBRATIONS
As Valentine’s Day approaches, please keep in mind that at PES we keep our celebrations very low key, and do our best to follow the RSU1 Wellness Policy. Teachers may choose to have a healthy treat during snack time, and students may exchange cards to be brought home. During these occasions, we need to be particularly vigilant as several students have food allergies. Watch your child’s classroom newsletter for details or specific plans about Valentine’s Day. As always, feel free to contact the teacher with any questions.
THIRD GRADE PUBLISHING PARTY
A NOTE FROM THE LIBRARY
It's time to Vote!
PES students in Kindergarten through Fourth grade will be voting for the Chickadee Award book for the State of Maine in March. To help students be prepared to vote on their favorite book, I have posted recordings of all the books on the PES library website: https://sites.google.com/rsu1.org/peslibrary
Please enjoy these books with your students.
Happy reading~Mrs. Caron
