Valentine Parties are always so fun! We LOVE to party!! Check with your child's teacher or room parent to see how you can help. Valentine parties will be from 1:30-2:30 on February 14th. All parents are welcome to attend. If you need assistance with purchasing Valentine cards, please reach out, we will have some extra.
We will also have the 100th day of school this month. Unless we have more winter weather, the 100th day of school will be February 6th. I am encouraging all students to dress up like they are 100 years old. We are 100 days smarter, kinder and wiser! Let's keep going!!
Here are some answers to questions we get often:
1. How early can I drop my child off at school?
- Car riders can be dropped off at 7:15.
2. Why does the school push for my child to be on time?
- In the first 10-15 minutes of the day, teachers take attendance, lunch count and settle students in for the day. They usually do a welcome activity and take time to greet students before moving quickly to instruction. When students are late, they miss the cafeteria lunch count, and the opportunity to greet their peers. They will also miss instructional time. If instructional time is missed consistently, students will fall behind on their learning. Additionally, begin late causes some children to feel anxious. Start the day off right and come to school on time.
3. Can I come eat lunch with my child?
- Absolutely! Parents and special guests are welcome. You will need to sign in at the front office and then proceed to the cafeteria. There are 2 round tables at the back of the cafeteria for special lunch guests. Please DO NOT invite other children or bring them food. This is a special time for you and your child.
4. Are parent/teacher conferences really important?
- Yes! Research tells us that children who have involved parents in their education, are more successful long term. Parents and teachers working together makes for great teamwork! Schedule a time to hear about your child's progress and how you can help at home.
5. I got a new phone number, who should I call?
- Please call Mrs. Kelly, our school secretary, to update your contact information. Remember, state law says we must have working phone numbers and correct addresses on file for guardians.
***NEW*** Schedule updated to reflect game time changes. Due to weather issues, the schedule has changed. Update your calendars and don't forget to come out and help us cheer on our PHE Basketball team! All games are played at Mabelvale Middle School. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. See the schedule below.
