Founders Memorial School News: June 16, 2023

Dear Families and Caregivers,

It’s hard to believe this is the final stretch of the 2022-23 school year! Our FMS students have grown and changed so much.

This week has been filled with fun experiences and celebrations in our community. Students in each grade have field trips planned to spend special time with their classmates before summer break.

Thank you to our families for all you do to support your children. Our staff truly does miss our students over the summer.

Please read below for some important end-of-year reminders.

Field Day

Thank you to the PTO for finding volunteers to help with our field day this week. We had beautiful weather for this special day of fun! We kicked off the day with our final schoolwide morning meeting, followed by different stations of outdoor games. We ended the day with a staff relay.

Placement Letters

Placement letters will be mailed home on Friday, June 16th. Over the past few weeks, students have had opportunities to meet all teachers at the next grade level through a few different “Move Up” experiences.

Placement Letter Details

For 3rd and 4th graders, these letters will contain each student’s class placement.
For 5th graders, the letter will indicate the 6th grade team. Homeroom assignments will be shared before the new school year begins.

Making their Mark!

5th Graders are leaving a gift behind at FMS. We are starting a border on our walls that will be decorated with a handprint of each graduating 5th grader. Thank you to Ms. Lambert for working with 5th graders to make this beautiful mark!

The Gauntlet

Our FMS 5th graders will experience a long-standing tradition of “The Gauntlet” on the last day of school. It is our way of saying farewell and best of luck to our 5th graders who are moving on to middle school.

5th grade parents are invited to participate in this event. If you are a 5th grade family member, please enter through the front door of the school. Staff will help you get to where you need to go. We will dismiss all students from the playground right after The Gauntlet. If you plan to attend and pick up your child, please indicate this in Pickup Patrol, and touch base with your child’s teacher before leaving campus.

Casella Calendar Winner!

On Friday, June 9th, a representative from Casella Waste Company came to celebrate a winner of their calendar contest. Grace, a 3rd grader in Mrs. Bacon’s class was recognized for her artwork which will be featured as one of 12 winning pieces in next year’s Casella calendar. Great job, Grace!
