Prom
Plans are underway for the 2024 Prom. Upperclassmen, make sure to reserve the date - April 13. The Prom will be held at Carriage Hills.
Available Resource
The Second Mile Rec Center has after school activities for students. This may be great resource for parents who need activities for their children or a safe place for them to be after school.
Community Service
HOSA is having a food and blanket drive for a pet shelter. They are in need of food, blankets, towels, sheets, wood shavings, etc. If you have items you would like to donate, they are collecting through March 7. (Ignore the date on the poster below).
FFA
The BHS CDE Judging teams have been burning up the roads over the last two weeks competing in contests at the San Antonio Stock show and the San Angelo Stock show. These are statewide contests with tough competition. Results from these contests are as follows:
San Antonio Stock Show Judging Contests:
Wildlife: 16th out of 76
Poultry: 24th out of 85
Meats: 34th out of 91
San Angelo Stock Show Judging Contests:
Wildlife: 10th out of 34
Livestock: 11th out of 44
Meats: 19 out of 57
All our teams are working hard and looking forward to our upcoming contests in Karnes City and Katy.
Basketball
The boys basketball team played Jim Ned in Brady on Monday February 19. The Panthers played hard, but came up short ending their season in the bidistrict round. Congratulations to all players and coaches for a successful year. .
Powerlifting
Powerlifting athletes were in action in San Marcos on Saturday, Feb 17. The girls team placed 3rd overall. Nessah Marquette was first in her class with personal bests in all lifts and in her overall total. Kylie Ridner was first in her class with a personal best in the bench. Vanessa Barrera also was first in her class. Torrance Uballe was second in her class with personal bests in all lifts and in her overall total. Kendall Martinez was third in her class with a personal best for squat. Maddie Lopez was 4th in her class with personal bests on squat and dead lift.
The boys has a successful meet as well. Donovan Hector continues to impress with a first place finish in his class and presonal bests for all lifts and overall total. Brian Perez was second in his class. Kaden Elrod was second in his class setting a new personal best total of 3/4 of a ton. He also had personal best lifts on bench and dead lift. Carlos Perez finished 4th in his class. Coleton Ledesma had personal bests in squat and dead lift as well as overall total. Robbie Jimenez set a new personal best in the squat.
Nessah Marquette, Kylie Ridner, Vanessa Barrera, and Alex Hartman have qualified for the Regional Powerlifting Meet and will compete on Saturday (March 2) in Dublin. Congratulations Girls and Good Luck!
Golf
The BHS Boys and Girls Golf teams competed at Vaaler Creek this week.
The girls will compete at Wimberley on Monday (Feb 26). The boys will be at Wimberley on Thursday (Feb 29).
Tennis
JV tennis got their season underway on February 22 at Fredericksburg. The Regional Team Tennis Tournament will be held in Mason on March 1-2 for Varsity team members.
Softball
Softball team played in the Ingram Tournament on Thursday (Feb 22) defeating 4A Bandera before losing a close game to TIvy. They defeated El Paso El Dorado and Harper in the tournament as well. They hosted Lago Vista on Tuesday (Feb 20). This was a close game throughout with Lago Vista holding an advantage heading into the home half of the last inning. The Panthers put together a big rally capped by a 3 run home run by Landry Meyer to give the girls the win in walk off fashion. They opened play in the Marion Tournament with a win over Navarro on Thursday. They will continue playing in the Marion Tournament Feb 23 - 24. The girls will host Marion on Feb 27, and play in the Blanco Tournament Feb 29 - March 2).
Baseball
Baseball played alumni games on Saturday (Feb 17). The old timers came out on top against the JV. The varsity contest ended in a tie. The varsity played Johnson City on Monday (Feb 19) at home. The Panthers came out on top 7-2. The JV played a double header at Cole on Tuesday (Feb 20) winning both games by 10 runs. The Varsity will be in the Marion Tournament Friday - Saturday (Feb 23-24). The varsity will play MISL in San Antonio Feb 26 and will be in the Ingram Tournament Feb 29 - March 2.
Track
Track season got under way this week when the boys and girls teams traveled to Ingram for their first meet on February 22 to compete in the Ingram Relays. The meet was a success for all BHS teams as the Varsity Boys finished second behind Tivy, while the varsity girls captured third place. The JV boys also posted a strong showing finishing third as well. The next meet will be in Comfort on February 29.

Construction Update
Lots of work is being done and dirt is being moved for the Educational Center for the Arts. Things are on track and on schedule. The pad is about a week or so from being completed.
Things are starting to progress with the field house. Major work removing pavement and moving dirt started this week. It should be ready early in the upcoming football season if things remain on schedule.

In an effort to recognize contributions and accomplishments of BHS students and staff, we will be giving shout outs to individuals or groups who have made and impact, represented Blanco HS well, done a good deed, gone above and beyond expectations, extended a helping hand, received an award, or just did something cool. Athletic Tickets
Fans can also download the Home Town Ticketing app to their smartphone and order tickets through the app.
Tickets are usually available for purchase 3-5 days prior to the contest. In person (cash) tickets will not be available at the gate/door.
This will only apply to BISD HOME games. We have no control over how other schools sell their tickets. If other venues require online ticketing, we will provide that information as soon as we have it.
