LycoCTC Shadowing Opportunities and Applications
LTHS students who have expressed potential interest in building their career knowledge and skills through participation in a career and technical education (CTE) program at LycoCTC have been visiting to learn more! CTE students attend their core academic courses at LTHS and instruction in their program area of interest at LycoCTC, in place of elective courses here. This is a great opportunity for students who have future career interests in the offered areas or those who aren’t sure of their future goals, especially if they would prefer engagement in hands-on learning for half of their school day!
To learn more, please visit: https://www.lycoctc.org/ and reach out to your student’s school counselor.
If your student is interested in attending, they should complete the LycoCTC Application by Friday, April 8 for enrollment in the 2022-2023 school year. Students who apply will still have an opportunity to change their mind, however applications received after the deadline are subject to class availability and classes may fill.

Welding Competition Winners
The Central Pennsylvania Section of the American Weld Society held the 2022 Welding Competition at the Pennsylvania College of Technology on March 2. Gavin Briggs and Blaze Emerick qualified to attend the event by earning a top finish amongst their peers within the CTE Welding program at Williamsport Area High School. At PCT, Blaze and Gavin competed against 16 additional students from the region in a rigorous competition that evaluated their work through both visual testing and x-ray technology. Both students were invited to attend the Student Awards Night where the top 6 place winners were honored – quite an achievement in itself! Even more impressive – Gavin earned himself a 2nd place finish with Blaze taking home 3rd place! We are incredibly proud of both Gavin and Blaze for their accomplishment!

STUDENTS FROM LOYALSOCK TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL TO PARTICIPATE IN ALL-STATE HONORS MUSIC ENSEMBLES
Students from Loyalsock Township High School reached the highest level a high school musician can achieve by earning a place in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) All-State Festival music ensembles.
Each year, thousands of high school musicians across the state audition in their geographic area. Individually, students perform for a panel of judges. Student musicians who rank the highest advance to compete against student musicians from other parts of PMEA Regions. The highest-ranking student musicians at the PMEA Region level qualify to perform in one of six Pennsylvania All-State music ensembles.
“We commend the student musicians that are part of the 2022 PMEA All-State Festival,” commented PMEA President and retired music educator Phil Stattel. “We know the past two years have been challenging for all students and for these students to work through the challenges to perform at the highest level is to be celebrated.”
Students from LTHS include Maria Blas, Soprano and Ian Hornberger, Tuba will perform in the All-State Vocal Jazz and Concert Band, respectively.
The student musicians who qualify will perform at the annual PMEA All-State Festival at the Kalahari Resort in The Poconos, Pennsylvania April 8-9, 2022. Nationally recognized conductors at the convention direct the groups who rehearse for two days and conclude with a performance. Learn more about the event and the guest conductors at: https://www.pmea.net/pmeaall-stateinformation/
