Sparling Newsletter
Oct. 5, 2020
Dear Families,
October has arrived! Our students are enjoying the lovely fall weather daily for their recess breaks, physical education, and various learning activities. It is wonderful to see the changing colors! This is also a great time to check and see where your warmer coats, toques, mitts, and boots are as we know the colder temperatures are approaching.
Sparling School is committed to sharing updates of what is happening at the school daily on our Twitter page and our School Council Facebook page! Please follow us to see the various updates of the amazing things happening. At our Oct. 2 Collaboration Day with teachers, one of our areas of focus was to support literacy and numeracy here at Sparling. In each newsletter you will find a tip for each of these areas to help support your child at home.
With Halloween approaching you will find information below in the newsletter regarding costumes, treats, and how we will be celebrating here at Sparling for the 2020/21 school year. Thank you for your support.
As always if you have any questions or concerns please contact us at the office anytime.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Gutmann
Halloween
- Students need to be INDEPENDENT with their costume and this includes going to the bathroom.
- Students need to arrive in costume and we encourage minimizing any accessories as we want to make sure all items make it safely home for the weekend
- Keep costumes simple so students can move freely during recess and gym
- At this time we ask that no inflatable costumes are sent
Lastly, we ask that no treats are sent to share with friends or with the class at this time. We will be providing a couple pre-packaged treats for our students to enjoy on behalf of the Sparling Staff.
Thank you for your support and understanding! Stay tuned for more information regarding how Sparling School will be sharing pictures in lieu of a Halloween Parade.

Illness Protocol/Procedure
- Fever
- Cough (worsening)
- Shortness of breath/difficulty breathing (worsening)
- Sore Throat
- Runny Nose
When a student needs to go home with one of the above symptoms we need to follow Alberta Health's guidelines at this time. For a student to return to school they will need to be at home for 10 days and be symptom free or if a COVID test is done and is negative he/she can return if symptom free.
If your child has a pre-exisitng condition please contact us at the school and we can provide you the medical form needed.
