As a reminder, there will be no school on Monday, September 19th for students. In addition, Allen ISD students have a fall break from October 17th - 21st and there is no school for students then as well. On Friday, October 21st, we are doing parent/teacher conferences. More information will come from your child's teacher(s) in the coming weeks.

Raise Craze has arrived. This is the only fundraiser our PTA is doing to raise funds to support all the great things we do here at Vaughan. This includes PTA programs/events for our students and families, resources/items for our school (i.e. musical instruments for music, gaga ball, etc.), as well as showering our teachers with treats, breakfast and/or lunches, and lots of love. As you can see, our PTA is amazing and they couldn't do it without all of your support. In addition to the monetary support, the most important goal of Raise Craze is to encourage our students to be kind to those around them and do acts of kindness for others. Our top classes so far are Mrs. Kreska's class with 25 acts of kindness and Mrs. Lambert's class has raised over $1035 in donations. As a whole, we've raised around $9454 thus far and completed over 127 acts of kindness. This is amazing! The Raise Craze fundraiser goes through September 30th.

Social Media Awareness, Digital Citizenship, and Cyberbullying Parent University

As a parent/caregiver, you lead the charge as a digital role model. Help your child develop a strong digital citizenship foundation while reminding them that their digital tattoo reflects their real and online selves. Parents/Caregivers have an important role to play in providing support and guidance during critical periods. A snapshot of current trends and concerning apps will be provided to equip you in your digital parenting strategy.

Allen ISD will be using Traditions Portraits for school photos this year. This company offers some great new features including paperless order forms, choice of background selection online and picture orders will ship directly to the student's home!

In addition, pre-ordering/payment is not required! Here’s how it works. Parents will receive an email once the photos are ready to view, see a digital proof of your student’s photo and then be able to order at that time.

Picture Day Tips

· All students will have their photo taken for the yearbook.

· Students must be in dress code for yearbook pictures.

· Pictures are Tuesday, September 27 and will begin promptly at 8:00 am.

· New or absent students will be eligible to have their pictures taken at a later date.

If you would like to be the head room parent for your child's homeroom, please complete this form. If we have multiple room parents per class, we will just randomly draw for each homeroom. The other parents who volunteered can support the head room parent if they would like. Thank you!

Since 2020, many families have received free breakfast and lunch through the Allen ISD Student Nutrition Department through the Summer Seamless Option (SSO). However, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has not extended waivers allowing for free breakfast and lunch meals for students enrolled at campuses that participate in the National School Lunch Program.

Due to this change in federal policy, Allen ISD families who want to qualify for a free or reduced-price meal will be required to complete an application for the 2022-2023 school year.

The free and/or reduced-price meals application will be available for parents/guardians on the Student Nutrition webpage, www.allenisd.org/studentnutrition, beginning Aug. 1. Allen ISD will work with campuses to inform parents of the transition to paid meals and the need to complete a meal application in order to qualify for the free and/or reduced-price program.
