4th Grade Science with Mr. McIntosh
Looking Back -
We are approaching the end of our offline unit on energy, and it has been amazing! From thermal energy to the sounds that we hear and the electricity that powers our world, we have seen the variety of energy forms that change our lives. We will conclude this unit with an assessment that will review the key ideas that we have studied.
Looking Ahead –
We will spend next week reviewing our unit on energy to help students complete the assessment in USA Test Prep. We will look at some example questions that cover the topics that we have studied and that will become a key part of science knowledge for 5th grade.
Don’t forget the opportunities for extra credit in USA Test Prep
There is an extra credit assignment available in USA Test Prep – 4th Extra Credit #1. Read the article (paste it in your browser) and answer some questions using your own ideas about the topic.Continue to devote one hour (or two 30 minute sessions) to Stride Science lessons each week.
Science News for the Week: How would you like to name one of the moons of Jupiter? There is a contest (ending April 15th) to name five of the newest moons that have been discovered recently. Check out this article to get more information about participating. This is your chance to name a moon!
Special Note: We are welcoming Courtney Fields to our staff as a new teacher for 4th grade science, and she will lead classes for the remainder of the year after spring break. Not only is she a wonderfully creative teacher, but she will also bring new ideas and energy to TOPS and your science classes.
I want to thank each 4th grade student and the Learning Coaches for helping me enjoy this year so much. I will miss our Friday sessions, but I hope to see every one of you in 5th Science next year. Have a great spring break!Energy Unit: Review and Assessment (Offline)
