A MESSAGE FROM OUR SCHOOL PRINCIPAL:

Happy Fall yall! BOX TOP collection continues this week! DId you realize our PTO receives 10 cents per BOX TOP that we collect. We have already collected more than 2,500 box tops! Our goal is 4,000! Keep sending these in next week.

Our PTO worked so hard on preparations for our Fall Fest! The students will enjoy a mini Fall Fest on October 31 during the school day. If you are available to assist at the Fall Fest, please email PTO at pontiacpto@gmail.com

I am overwhelmed with excitement at the participation we are seeing this week for parent conferences. Together, we really can do so much. Thank you to all of the families that have plans to join us to meet with your child’s teacher. Parent Conferences are being scheduled now! Our district has designated the Early Dismissal day, tomorrow, October 25, as our conference date. Please contact your child’s teacher TODAY if you haven't already done so to schedule a conference to discuss the great strengths of your student leader.

ATTENTION: 2nd Grade Parents

2nd Grade Parents:

We'll be taking the CogAT/IA (Cognitive Abilities Test and Iowa Assessment) next week Oct. 29-Nov. 2. The CogAT/IA test is a state-mandated assessment for ALL students in Second Grade. The purpose of the assessment is to identify students for the gifted and talented programs. The test takes between 4 and 5 days to complete.

If you have a child in second grade, please ensure that they're on time to school each day. Please also encourage them to get a good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast.

Fall Picture Make-Up Day: Monday, October 29

Pontiac will hold a Fall Picture Make-Up Day: Monday, October 29 for any students who were absent or have enrolled since September 7.

Please remember to either send in the payment for your child's pictures that have already been sent home or return the pictures that you do not wish to purchase within the next week.

Woodcreek Farms

The Blake at Woodcreek Farms Retirement Home would like to invite Pontiac families to come "Trick or Treat" with their residents at 5:30pm on October 31st.

PTO NEEDS YOUR HELP

Hello Pontiac Families,

As you know, PTO decided to cancel the annual Fall Fest due to Hurricane Michael. However, we still want to allow our students to participate in this fun event. PTO will be hosting a Mini Fall Fest on October 31st!! And we NEED your help to make this happen.

You will find a Signup Genius link below with volunteer slots for various games that we will offer on October 31st. Pie in the Face and the Dunk Booth will be held first thing in the morning and will be shown on VBrick Live. The rest of the games will be played during students' recess times. Please remember, we can only offer games that have a volunteer scheduled to run the event.

I also want to remind you that we will be having our monthly PTO meeting on Thursday, November 1st at 630pm in the Media Center. We hope to see you there!

Music Fundraiser

It is October and time for our 4th annual Music Fundraiser! Last year we raised enough money to buy 30 ukuleles which 5th graders are playing right now, and enough soprano recorders for every 3rd, 4th, 5th grader and Upper Montessori student to keep! Our goal this year is to purchase a recorder for every 3rd grader and any new student to Pontiac in grades 4-5, as well as some classroom rhythm instruments that need to be replaced.

The fundraiser will run the month of October. All orders are due to Ms. Rayner by Wednesday, October 31st. You do not need to return anything if you choose not to participate, simply recycle the catalogs.
