Good Afternoon NBHS Families!

I am looking forward to beginning the school year at North Brookfield. I have heard many great things about our students, school, and community. We have been working hard all summer to get ready for the year and welcome our students.

We will have our first parent meeting next Tuesday at 6pm. I'm hoping to see most of you there to kick off the school year! In the meantime if you would like to set up a time to meet I can be reached at jdiorio@nbschools.org or 508 867-7131.

I am going to have a parent meeting on Tuesday, 8/22, at 6:00. I will talk about the upcoming school year and answer any questions you may have. Parent meetings are a great way to bring our school community together and gives families the opportunity to work together to create a positive school culture for our students.

Just a reminder we have our sports information night for students and families at 6pm today in the Kiva. This is an important meeting for all students who will be playing fall sports this year. Our new AD, Ms. Kemp, will give a brief presentation on concussion protocol and expectations. Medical forms will be available at this time.

It's not too late to sign up for fall sports! This will be a great time to ask any questions you may have regarding our sports program. Hope to see you there.

As you know, cell phone use in schools everywhere has become a major issue. Studies have shown cell phone use in the classroom is a major deterrent to learning and increases social/emotional issues in schools. This year we are instituting a no cell phone policy in our classrooms. Students will be required to leave their cell phones in the "cell motels" in each classroom. Students will not be allowed to use their phone in the classrooms, hallways, or bathrooms. However, students can use their phones during lunch. We need your support with this. Please explain importance of not using cell phones in the classroom to your students. I will discuss this in more detail at our parent meeting.

Our 7th grade orientation will be Friday, August 25, from 9am-12pm. Students will be welcomed by our amazing student counsel. Students will receive their schedules and Chromebook as well as tour the school.

We are currently making our last adjustments to this years schedule. We are hoping to have everything finalized within the coming weeks. The bell schedule will remain the same as last year.
