White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Announces National Climate Assessment Art Submission Award Winners! Amelia Klun, a 10th grade student at CHS was among the top 5 award winners and will be featured in the 5th National White House Climate Report. Amelia did this project as part of the Art Club with Ms. Carolyn McGrath. She is also a student in Ms. Durr's Studio Art II class.
This spring, the Hopewell Valley Municipal Alliance partnered with Hopewell Township Health Department to create the Hopewell Valley School Community Asset Map. According to Sustainable Jersey for Schools, "School Community Asset Mapping (SCAM)" creates a collective inventory of the positive and valued aspects of a community by identifying the places, institutions, programs, and people that contribute to making our communities great places to learn and live." In the Hopewell Valley School Community Asset Map, you can find information about dozens of organizations, businesses, places of worship, and activities in and around Hopewell Valley. The hope is that members of the community find it to be a valuable and useful directory.
There is also an opportunity for community members to contribute to the asset map so that it is fully inclusive of the many different components of our schools and community. To suggest an addition to the asset map, please click here.

As of June 1st, 2023, ALL Working Papers applications will be online ONLY: MyWorkingPapers.NJ.gov
Employers hiring teenagers must register online to receive a unique 8-digit code and share that code with every minor they intend to hire. The potential hire can then visit the website to create an account and start their working papers application, entering the employer's unique code. Caregivers must review the details of the job and provide proof of the minor's age. The NJ Department of Labor will notify the business once the application is approved.

HVCHS Fall 2023 Sports Registration is OPEN: All Registrations and medical forms are due by Monday, July 17th. Registration and medical form links are available on the athletic website. If your child needs an annual sports physical and you are unable to get an appointment with your pediatrician, we are having two sessions of “In-School” Sports Physicals with our school doctors on Thursday, July 13th and Monday, July 17th from 9:00 am-12:00 pm in the high school nurse's office. Please use this link to sign up for an appointment.. They are open to students in grades 6-12 by appointment only and are $25 a child. (Checks should be made out to HVRSD.) If you have any questions regarding which medical forms your child needs, please contact Kelly Hall or Angela Drake in the CHS Nurse’s Office at (609) 737-4003 x3537. 2023 TMS FALL SPORTS- Registration and medical forms for TMS fall 2023 sports are due by Thursday, August 24th. Please click here to access the registration page and print medical forms. The Hopewell Valley Education Foundation (HVEF) has 1-2 openings on their board. They particularly need help from board members (or non board member volunteers) with website editing and print marketing for their events. The Board has representation from all of the six district schools whether the board members currently have children in one of the schools or have had children in one of the schools.If you are interested, please email Carol Jackson at cjackson@metricon.com to set up a time to talk about how the HVEF needs might match your skills and interests. Helping with this organization is a good way to become involved with the schools by helping with their fundraising events and by making decisions about how to use their resources to provide teacher grants for new and exciting programs in the schools.

A Note from Mrs. Lennon: As we come to the end of our school year at Toll Gate, it is a good time to reflect on what we have achieved and look forward to an even more successful 2023-2024 school year! Volunteers Needed: Rain Garden & Pollinator Garden: Toll Gate now has two great additions to the Gator Green Space:
First, a Rain Garden that will help control run off behind the Kindergarten trailers. This was just installed with a lot of love, sweat, and elbow grease from volunteers and Watershed Institute staff. Now we need your help watering and weeding over the summer. Juneteenth Ice Cream Social: The Pennington African Cemetery Association Educational Foundation (PACA-Ed) will have an ice cream truck at the foot of the Pennington African Cemetery driveway (413-417 South Main Street, Pennington, NJ), Friday, June 16th from 12:30-2:30 PM. They will be offering complimentary ice cream cones to celebrate Juneteenth! Please come enjoy a cone & take a tour of the cemetery with neighbors and friends.
