Our Spring 2023 Georgia Milestones Literacy assessments have earned FAST state wide recognition! On Tuesday, September 26 Georgia State Superintendent of Schools, Richard Woods, will present FAST with a “Literacy Leader Banner Achievement.” We are incredibly proud of our students, but recognize we couldn't have done it without the dedication and support of the entire FAST community including teachers, parents, and staff.

Most of the time when people think of FAST, it's STEM comes to mind. This achievement highlights how well rounded our students truly are. Keep an eye out on our social media next week for pictures from the awards event.

8th grade parents are invited to join FAST Middle School Assistant Principal, Demetria Walker for an information session on October 24. The meeting will be held in person at FAST at 9am. The purpose of this meeting is to help keep parents informed about what to expect for their students through their last year of middle school. We encourage you to attend to ensure that your student's last year at FAST sets the stage for a smooth transition to high school .

The FAST Astros soccer team won their game on Wednesday against Sandy Springs Middle School with a final score of 2-1. Oluwasemilore Akinsola and Nabhya Tripathi each scored a goal securing the victory for the Astros. They headed into last night's game with a 2-1 record ready to put another match in the win column. Congratulations to coach Starr and the entire team!

On Thursday, FAST celebrated International Day of Peace with various activities around the school. Our elementary kids participated in yoga and mindfulness exercises throughout the morning. The entire school observed a moment of silence at noon. The afternoon brought the school together in a giant peace sign. You can check out pictures from day on our social media.

Picture day is scheduled for October 3. We have partnered with Josten's this year for school pictures. You will be able to preview their photo before ordering, order only what you want (i.e. no large packages required), and pictures will be delivered to your home.

All students are expected in their cobalt blue FAST branded Lands' End polo shirt for school pictures. If your child is one of the kids that loves spirit wear, now is the time to make sure your student's polo still fits.

Do you love FAST? Tell your friends! Applications for the 2024-25 school year will open on January 1, 2024 and tours for prospective families are already scheduled. During these informational tours, parents will learn about our curriculum, find out what sets FAST apart from traditional schools, and tour our campus. While we are still early in the school year, it is already time to start thinking about next year. For those students who will be graduating FAST this year, there are many options for high school. Magnet, charter, and private school tours begin in October. Other high schools will begin informational sessions in a few months.

FAST leverages various means of communications to keep our families up to date with what is happening at school. Since most people are on social media, we post to different platforms to keep you up to date. If you aren't already following us, check us out on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.

We still have some used Chromebooks available for sale. We cannot use them as they are not compatible with our testing platform; however, they are great to have an extra device for students to do their homework. We are selling them for $50 each while supplies last. Please contact justin.mercado@fastk8.org for information on how to purchase one.

FAST is a smoke-free environment. Whether you are in the building, in your car, or anywhere else on campus please refrain from smoking or vaping at all times.

Please remember to send your child to school with lunch every day or order through Ordo at ordo.com. Ordo orders must be placed by midnight on Friday for the following week. Lunches must be nut free and ready-to-eat (we cannot microwave lunches).

As a reminder, all visitors - including parents - must check in at the front desk in Innovation Hall upon arrival. No one is permitted to enter Student Hall without having first checked in at the front desk. Parents are not permitted to walk their student to their classroom. We have staff available during morning drop-off to ensure students are attended to.

Students are expected to be in their homeroom by 7:40am each day. If they arrive after 8am, you will need to sign them in at the front office. If your student misses school, please send the absence excuse to attendance@fastk8.org

All students are expected to be in proper uniform every day. Repeat violations of uniform code will result in a call from the front office with a request to bring the appropriate clothing for the student. FAST uniform includes FAST logo polo or spirit wear, khaki or navy bottoms (of black for middle school). Shirts without the FAST logo are not considered proper uniform.

REMEMBER - Spirit Wear t-shirts can be worn daily as a uniform option! Order your long-sleeved shirts now to be ready for colder weather – it will be here sooner than you think (but not soon enough)!

***Important Note on Spirit Wear*****

The third round of spirit wear is expected to be in the second week of September. We will get it sorted and into backpacks as soon as possible once it arrives.
Due to an error with our supplier, some families that ordered spirit wear have not gotten their orders. Unfortunately, the supplier did not fulfill all the style and size requests. We are working to get those in ASAP. We will sort and deliver to students to take home in their backpacks as soon as they arrive.

If you received an order that was missing pieces, we have that information, but feel free to email us at pto@fastk8.org. The same applies to anyone who received an incorrect order.
