Thursday, April 27, a group of MHS seniors visited the Crawford County Adult Education Center for a career fair. Students were able to learn about job opportunities in our area, introduce themselves to prospective employers, and hand out resumes. Thanks to Adult Ed for hosting this excellent event!

The MMS and MHS Libraries are popular places for students during 4th hour, which is the advisory period for students.

Mountainburg FFA members attending the 96 Arkansas FFA Convention and Expo April 24-26 in Hot Springs. Over the 3 day event, members attended sessions and workshops, spoke with industry professionals at the career show and mingled with members and advisors from across the state.

Anaphylaxis is a severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction and it can happen to anyone even if previous reactions were mild. It can occur within seconds or even hours of exposure to something to which you are allergic. The most common causes of anaphylaxis are insect stings, peanuts and tree nuts, other types of food such as milk or seafood, and certain medications. Signs of anaphylaxis include:

• Skin reactions, including hives and itching and flushed or pale skin
• Low blood pressure (hypotension)
• Constriction of the airways and a swollen tongue or throat, which can cause wheezing and trouble breathing
• A weak and rapid pulse
• Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
• Dizziness or fainting

Anaphylaxis requires immediate medical treatment, including a prompt injection of epinephrine, or an epi-pen, and a trip to a hospital emergency room.

The Mountainburg Board of Education meets once a month unless a special meeting is needed. A study session will be held at 5:15 and the business session will be at 6:00 PM. Meetings are held downstairs in the Mountainburg Administration Building.
