Updates & Reminders:
First and foremost, I wanted to apologize for families not receiving my Take Home Tuesday last week. I made the mistake of sending it to staff and not families. My apologies.
Additionally, I would like to thank our PTA for putting together a SPOOK-TACULAR Book Fair last week. It was a huge success! We appreciate all you do for our students and school.
Lastly, we are beyond thrilled to announce that today our media center officially opened up for BEAR BOOK BUSINESS! We are going to be having a Grand Opening Event in November. Details will be coming soon.
Here's all you should know for the days ahead...
Red Ribbon Week
We love the participation of our Hannum Bears in this week's Red Ribbon Week festivities. This week we are highlighting the importance of living a healthy, drug-free life style. Here are the spirit days for the rest of the week:
Wednesday: Give Drugs the Boot~Wear Your Best Country Western Outfit!
Thursday: We have the Power to Say NO to Drugs~Wear a Superhero Shirt/Dress Like a Hero!
Friday: Bear Choose to be Drug/Bully Free~Wear Your Hannum Spirit Wear/School Colors!
PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports)
Our Trimester 1 Celebration will be taking place on Friday, November 17th. We are so excited to recognize our Bears for demonstrating our expected behavior. Last week, it was shared with all of the students that in order to participate in this celebration, they must meet our PBIS criteria:
- Students must have fewer than 3 Skyward Referrals.
- Students cannot have a suspension of any kind.
- Students should aim to have no missing assignments, but if they have 5 or more, they will be ineligible.
- If a student is not eligible to participate, they will be working on either goal setting activities or completing outstanding work during the celebration.
We wiped the slate clean from the beginning of the year until last Tuesday, October 17th. The new criteria will take place from 10/17 through the end of the trimester. Moving forward, we will start new at each trimester. We have no doubt that our students will rise to the challenge of meeting this criteria.
School Safety
One of the ways we can all work together to keep our school safe is to report any circumstances that could pose a threat to ourselves or others immediately to the office. Our staff takes these matters extremely seriously and the safety of our students and staff remains my top priority as a building leader. Students are receiving consequences such as detentions, in-school suspensions, and out-of-school suspensions for behavior that jeopardizes the health, safety, and welfare of others. We are stressing the importance of keeping our hands, feet, and bodies to ourselves because often times. We are also constantly reiterating the importance of reporting issues with peers it to a trusted adult. This will allow the adults to intervene in a timely matter and prevent larger situations from occurring. Please call at any time that you have a concern. It takes all of working together to provide a safe learning environment for our kids.
Safety Drills
Our bus evacuation drills are scheduled for November 3rd. I also wanted to share that we are going to running some unannounced drills throughout the year. This process will allow us to act on our feet and demonstrate flexible thinking.
Skyward Notifications
Parents/guardians have started receiving behavior referral notifications via Skyward. These notifications are sent to the email addresses that you have listed in Skyward. Teachers/Staff will still reach out to you to share information regarding any incidents that occur. This is just an added layer of communication.
