REMINDER: Student Device Fee Due Oct. 1
All secondary students should have received their laptops, and the device protection fee is due by October 1. The Bastrop Protection Plan is an affordable way to ensure that families are protected in the event of accident, damage, theft, or loss of the laptop. The fee is only $25 for the first child in the household and a discounted $15 for each child after that. A student with no claims in 23-24 can carry over their fee for the 24-25 school year.
We have provided a convenient way to pay the protection plan fee using Revtrak. Use this Enrollment Guide for step-by-step instructions (Spanish Version). If you need to make a payment plan, please contact your child's school.
Need a Hotspot?
The BootUp Hotspot program provides a hotspot to Bastrop ISD students who do not have access to the Internet at home. Students will be able to access high-quality instructional materials in addition to district-adopted tools and platforms. Only Bastrop ISD-issued Chromebooks will be able to connect to the Hotspot. The district is using a built-in content filtering system to support safe browsing at school, home, or other locations.
Parents may request a hotspot for their child by visiting https://bastrop.revtrak.net/technology/. There is no charge to request a hotspot, but the Device Protection Plan fee of $25 must be paid prior to receiving a hotspot.
Does Your Student Have an Absence Due to Illness?
If your student is out due to illness and/or injury, and they're seen by a doctor, please provide your school with a doctor's note. If your student is going to be out multiple days, please call the school each day they're absent to let them know.
Students must be fever-free for 24 hours, without the assistance of fever-reducing medicine, before returning to school.
Need to get in touch with your child's school nurse? Contact information is available by visiting https://www.bisdtx.org/Page/7280.
New Tool Announced for Parents of Bus Riders!
Parents whose children are registered to ride a bus to/from school can track their child's bus using SafeStop. This free app is available in either the App Store or Google Play. Instructions are provided below.
For PK-5 students, their bus number will be followed by the Letter A (for example, 102A AM and 102A PM). For 6-12 students, their bus number will be followed by the letter B. Parents must subscribe to both AM and PM routes to follow their student to school and from school. Parents also must know their student ID to log in.
*A small group of parents have specialized midday transportation for their children and will have either C or D after the bus #.

Social Emotional Learning
What are the students learning?
For the first couple of weeks of school, Social Emotional Learning has focused on campus-wide and classroom expectations of being safe, respectful, and responsible. Elementary students have explored skills such as listening, focusing attention, and self-talk. Middle school students have focused on a growth mindset and creating goals for themselves. High school students have received instruction on building community within their classrooms. Talk to your child about these topics to extend this learning at home.
Self-Care Tip
Our self-care tip for September is simple and efficient. At the end of each day, take five minutes to reflect on your day through journaling or simply thinking about situations that brought on stress. If you notice you're still holding onto that stress in your body, give yourself permission to let it go. If the situation is out of your control, practicing acceptance can be a powerful anecdote to that stress. If the situation is within your control, identify one step you could take to improve it. As this daily reflection becomes a habit, you'll find five minutes can easily extend to 20 minutes or more over time.
