A MESSAGE FROM OUR SCHOOL PRINCIPAL:
Spring 2019– Let’s Finish Strong
The fall semester is our opportunity to “start strong” and the spring semester is our chance to “finish strong!” As we wrap up the 3rd nine weeks and begin the 4th nine weeks, it’s important to have a clear vision of how we want to end the school year.
Remember – while you may think as a parent that an “A” is the most desirable end result, what is more important is that your child is showing progress over time. We want to see children making progress and gains over time.
This is evidenced through the Spring MAP assessment, classroom writing samples, and even student portfolios. MAP assessment will be administered to students beginning the first week of April.
Encourage your child to do his or her personal best each and every day, using 7 Habits, particularly Putting First Things First. We teach students to work first, then play.
Stay in contact with your child’s teacher(s), as ongoing two-way communication is essential to each child’s success. As always, the Pontiac staff is eager to serve your family!
We look forward to finishing the 4th nine weeks strong!

SEND NO MONEY TODAY!
All students will be photographed and a portrait package will be sent home in approximately 3 weeks with the option for parents to purchase.
It's hard to believe we are already thinking about the 2019-2020 school year!
During our April PTO meeting, we will begin discussing next year's PTO executive board. All executive board positions are open for nominations. These positions include:
President
Vice President
Treasurer
Secretary
Member at Large
If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else to serve on the board, please submit nominations to the Pontiac PTO board at:
PontiacPTO@gmail.com
You may also contact the board at PontiacPTO@gmail.com if you have any questions about any of the positions.
We will take nominations until our next board meeting on April 4th. Voting for the board will be during our May 2nd meeting.
Thank you for your continued support of Pontiac PTO.

Art Room Needs Colored Pottery and Tiles
We need as much as possible to break and use for our Pontiac Parrots so if we could get any donated ceramic plates, mugs, bowls, bathroom tiles, etc. that would greatly help us out (I'll be scouring thrift stores and hitting up tile shops for scraps). They need to be BRIGHTLY colored... red, blue, yellow, green, orange, purple (no neutrals).
Thank you SO MUCH!
Sincerely,
Mrs.Quam
Middle School Music Programs
All of our 5th grade students were recently visited by band, chorus, and orchestra students from Summit Parkway Middle School. Each ensemble performed for our students, the directors introduced their middle school programs, and our students asked any questions they had concerning the middle school music classes. If your 5th grade child is interested in participating in band, chorus, or orchestra and will be attending a Richland Two middle school next year, the district is asking you to indicate that interest by completing an online registration form by March 31st. You can access the form as follows:
- go to www.richland2.org
- click on the Explore menu in the upper right hand corner
- click on I'm a Richland Two Student or Parent
- scroll down the list of tabs on the right hand side and click on Middle School Music Form
Or here is the direct Link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfp-k1wxYWWEFKDu6ujA8wuoSDuqcaKFAMKxqEIhTOIW-LyKQ/viewform
I have a limited number of paper brochures only available for those with no internet access. Please have your child come by my music room to pick one up if this applies to your situation and you would like to register your child for a middle school music program. If you have any questions concerning middle school music registration please feel free to contact me.
Thank you!
