What we continue to notice is student drivers and car riders are arriving late. The tardy bell to the first class of the day rings at 7:25. We ask that all students be in their class by that time. For students that are driving, it is highly recommended that you be in the student parking lot by 7:15 to ensure you have time to make it to your first class on time.

Lunch Drop Offs Discouraged
The main office is the hub of our school and is a very busy location. To help limit traffic and minimize distractions in that location we remind you that we will not accept lunch deliveries from outside sources, this includes families dropping off lunches from outside sources. If your child forgets their lunch please remember that this year there is NO cost to students for breakfast OR lunch.
Student Expectations During Lunch Period
At no time should a student place orders through outside sources (GrubHub, UberEats, etc.) expecting a delivery. Students are not allowed to leave campus during lunch. Both pose a safety concern and will be addressed through our discipline matrix.

Face Coverings
Masks are to be worn by all individuals in indoor instructional settings where interaction between teachers/staff and students occurs in person. All masks and face coverings must cover the nose and mouth and may not contain holes, valves, or mesh material. Bandanas, neck gaiters, and scarves are not permitted. Face shields without an underlying mask or acceptable face covering are not permitted.
Health Screening
To protect LCS students, faculty, and staff, parents should complete a daily health screening of their child using the COVID-19 Health Screening Questions listed below. Parents will screen students before leaving for school and keep students at home if they have symptoms consistent with COVID-19 or if they have had close contact with a person diagnosed with COVID-19. Staff will screen themselves following the same protocols above.
LCS COVID-19 Home-Screening Questions
1. Is your child having any new or unusual symptoms?
❑ Fever >100.4F
❑ Shortness of Breath
❑ Diarrhea
❑ Cough
❑ Muscle Aches/Fatigue
❑ Loss of Smell/Taste
❑ Chills
❑ Nausea
❑ Loss of Appetite
❑ Sore Throat
❑ Vomiting
❑ Headache
2. Has Your Child Been Exposed to COVID-19 in the Previous 2 Weeks?
HIGH RISK: Direct physical or close contact (within 6 feet for continuous 15 minutes, without face covering) with someone, within 2 days of testing positive with COVID-19, or displaying symptoms. (Call School Administrator or School Nurse)
LOWER RISK: Distant contact (outside 6 feet or within 6 feet for a brief period of time) of someone, within 2 days of testing positive with COVID-19. (Monitor for Symptoms)
3. Has Your Child Tested Positive for COVID-19?
Notify the school administrator or school nurse.
For more information about health screenings, see the Parent/Guardian Home Health Screening information sheet.
Personal Hygiene
Personal hygiene is an important measure in reducing the spread of COVID-19 as well as other illnesses, and students and staff will be encouraged to wash their hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds. Hand sanitizer will also be available in classrooms and throughout the school building.
Reporting/Notification and Response
Parents or guardians should notify their school administrator or the school nurse at woodjw@lcsedu.net or by phone, (434-515-5374) in the event that your child shows symptoms of COVID-19 or tests positive for COVID-19. LCS staff will work with the local health department for contact tracing and notify any staff and parents or guardians of any student who may have been exposed. Any exposed areas in which a symptomatic individual or an individual who tested positive for COVID-19 will be properly cleaned and disinfected, Daily updates of new positive COVID-19 cases reported can be found on the LCS homepage.
Chronic Health Conditions
If your child has a chronic health condition such as asthma, diabetes, a seizure disorder, or a food allergy requiring an epi-pen the school division requires that the school clinic have a Health Care Action plan that is signed by a physician and parent. The Action plan can also include permission for medication.
See attached links for Health care plans that can also be found on the LCS website.
Medications
If your child does not have one of the above chronic illnesses but requires medication while at school the clinic must have a Physician/Parent Authorization to Administer Medication form.
This form must be completed and signed by both the parent/guardian AND the physician. While we highly encourage parents to make every attempt to give their students medications at home, we understand that there are circumstances that will require your student to take their meds at school. Please consider the following guidelines for medication administration by the nurse/clinic while your student is in school:
A parent always has the right to come to the school and administer medication to their student at any time during school hours. .
A Physician/Parent Authorization to Administer Medication form must be completed, signed, and dated by both the prescribing physician and the parent. A parent/guardian should turn in this form with the medication to be given at school.
No medication (including over-the-counter medications like Tylenol and Advil) will be given without a signed authorization form that is complete.
All medications must be brought to the school by the parent/guardian. Medication must be signed in by both the parent and the nurse/school designee. Please allow 15 minutes in order to accomplish this when you come to the school. Medications may not be brought to school by the student. Prescription medications must be in the original pharmacy bottle containing the student’s name, medication name, dosage, route, and frequency.
Over-the-counter medication must be in a sealed, original container. The nurse can not accept any opened containers.
Students are to report to the clinic at the time their medication is to be administered.
The parent/guardian must bring in more medication when it is needed.
It is the parent’s responsibility to pick up medication at the end of the year. No medication will be kept over the summer or until the next school term.
