Athletic Event Student Expectations
It's Track & Soccer Season!
We are excited that track and soccer season has arrived! Please help us reiterate the campus and district game expectations to your student(s) as we continue to support our athletes through the remainder of the athletic season.
- Students must be in the district approved dress code at track meets and soccer games.
- Students should remain in the stands to watch the attending event.
- Students (non-participants) and parents are not allowed to enter the field at any time.
- Once students leave the premises, they are not allowed to return.
- Students’ conduct should promote sportsmanship and reflect Vandeventer in a positive and respectful manner. Conversations should be appropriate and profanity is prohibited.
- Students should not have the following items or similar items with them: football, soccer ball, tennis ball, skate board, scooter, etc. Please leave items such as these in the car or at home.
- Students must be picked up no later than 15 minutes after the conclusion of the track meet/soccer game in order to attend future extracurricular events. Students should not wait until the meet or game is over to contact parents for transportation. Administrators will wait with students until they are picked up to ensure student safety, so please ensure that your student has a ride immediately following the event.
- Students not meeting these expectations may be asked to sit with their parents (if parents are present), or to call their parents to pick them up. Students may also not be allowed to return for future extracurricular events.
Thank you so much for your support of our Vandeventer Viking athletes, families and spectators – we’ll see you at the games! GO VIKINGS!
News from Nurse Teeling
Vandeventer Middle Scholl hosted a blood drive with Carter Blood Care on Tuesday, February 25th. In all, 18 pints of blood were donated and 54 lives were saved! Thank you to all of the staff and community who came out and supported our efforts to save lives through blood donation!
COVID-19
As coronavirus remains a frequent topic of global news, we continue to receive questions about what Frisco ISD is doing in response and what actions individuals should take. At this time, Texas has 6 cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio and the patients have been moved to a medical facility in San Antonio. The CDC has reassured the citizens of the United States are at a very low risk to contract COVID-19. However, Frisco ISD is in contact with Denton County Public Health and the Collin County Health Department on a regular basis. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and give updates as needed.
Frisco ISD has been working with our staff and students to reinforce the importance of handwashing, proper hygiene, and manually cleaning of surfaces with wipes and disinfectants as a precaution to maintain healthy classrooms during cold and flu season.
Frisco ISD is providing the information below and a link to the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) on our website to keep our families informed.
https://dshs.texas.gov/coronavirus/
Frisco ISD has trained, registered nurses at each campus with protocols in place to handle communicable illnesses common to school districts like influenza (flu), pertussis (whooping cough), strep throat, head lice and more. Frisco ISD schools routinely teach and reinforce the following:
- Proper handwashing (soap and water for 20 seconds and hand sanitizer in between)
- Washing hands after certain activities, including bathroom breaks or recess and before lunch
- Cough and sneeze etiquette (cough into the upper sleeve or use tissue and dispose of it properly)
- Keeping hands away from eyes, nose and mouth
- Staying home if sick
In addition to hand sanitizer stations available in every classroom as well as in common areas, Frisco ISD Custodial Department follows strict guidelines and uses hospital-grade products to clean and disinfect school buildings daily. A special team is also utilized throughout the district in times of heightened health concerns to further prevent the spread of communicable diseases. In addition, the FISD transportation department sanitizes all buses routinely. This is an effort to reduce the amount of illnesses of any students or staff involved in transportation.
We encourage our families to keep children at home when they are sick or experiencing fever. Your child must be free of fever for 24 hours, without Tylenol or Advil, not vomiting or had diarrhea for 24 hours prior to returning to school. Antibiotics must be taken for 24 hours before returning to school.
Student and staff safety is our top priority. We will continue to monitor the CDC and DSHS for additional information and guidance and will share information with you regarding any updates.

The 2020 Texas Lone Star books have arrived! The Lone Star reading list is developed by public and school librarians from the Texas Library Association Young Adult Round Table. The purpose of the list is to encourage students in grades 6, 7, and 8 to explore a variety of current books. In elementary school, these books are known as the Bluebonnets. Check out this Smore for more information about each title.

Guardian Gateway
Frisco ISD is making it easier for guardians to find key information about their students through a new portal called the Guardian Gateway. The Guardian Gateway portal was created and designed based on feedback from parents who were looking for an easier and secure way to access information for multiple children within one platform. Soon guardians will be able to view multiple children within one HAC account, access STAAR scores and find regular important updates all in one place. We look forward to sharing the Guardian Gateway portal with you and appreciate your patience during the District Wide rollout. Click here to learn more.
