Our Veteran's Day Program was AMAZING! Thank you to our PTA for helping us put on this wonderful celebration for our Veterans and the Veterans in our community. It truly takes so many people working closely together to make it happen. It is an honor and priveledge to be able to recognize those who served. I've included some of the pictures below.

We're looking forward to our Bedtime Stories with the Principals on Tuesday, December 6th. We'd love for you and your children to join us. PTA will be providing milk and cookies for you to take home with you. :-)

We're extremely thankful for each of you, and we truly appreciate your support. As a reminder, Friday, November 18th will be an early release day at 12 PM. Students will then be off for Thanksgiving Break from November 21-25. We hope you have a wonderful time with your family and friends.

We are happy to announce that we are participating in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Participation is open to any interested and eligible 1st through 6th grader. For specific details about eligibility criteria, visit http://spellingbee.com/eligibility. The steps to qualify for the Scripps National Bee are as follows:

1. Classroom Spelling Bee - Will be held the week of November 28th - December 2nd. Ten students from each grade level will advance to the Campus Spelling Bee.
2. Campus Spelling Bee - Will be held on December 13th in the Vaughan Elementary Cafeteria. The School Champion will advance to the Collin County Spelling Bee.
3. District Spelling Bee - Will be held on January 19, 2023, at the Allen ISD STEAM Center in the Ellipse Theater.
4. County Spelling Bee- To be held on February 16, 2023, at Centennial High School in Frisco.
5. Dallas Regional Spelling Bee- March 11, 2022 - Date/Time TBD
6. National Spelling Bee Week- May 1, 2023, in National Harbor, Maryland

During the week of November 28th through December 2nd students will participate in the preliminary round, the Classroom Spelling Bee. The word list is attached to this email for you to review with your child. The Classroom Spelling Bee will be administered in a written format that resembles a spelling test. The top 10 students from each grade level will advance to the Campus Spelling Bee, which will be administered in the traditional oral format. The School Champion will move on to the District Spelling Bee. The District Champion will represent Allen ISD in the Collin County Spelling Bee.

Starting after Thanksgiving, parents that are coming off of Cottonwood to turn right into the gym side of the school, will be required to turn right. We've done this in previous years, and it seemed to work really well. This should help the flow of traffic in the morning.

I am looking for some help with shelving books in the library on a weekly or biweekly basis.

You don't have to have prior experience helping in the library, just know your ABC's :)

After I hear from you I'll share my volunteer calendar and you can sign up for what best meets your needs.
