Principal's Message
This is Principal Perez with your May parent bulletin. I hope everyone is doing well. I wish we were enjoying warmer weather, but May gray is here to stay.
It is hard to believe we have just 3 weeks left in the school year! I want all our students to finish the school year strong with excellent grades, attendance, and behavior! Please make sure you and your child are monitoring academic progress weekly in student and parent connect, as the end of trimester 3 is approaching. Our 8th grade students need to be especially mindful of grades since grades for 8th graders are submitted by June 9th. Please click here for promotion requirements. In addition, all students must have a 2.0 GPA, good attendance and behavior in order to participate in end of the year activities.
Student attendance and behavior are so important to your child’s success in junior high and high school. It is important for students to make good choices about behavior and classwork daily! If students are having a problem, they need to see an adult. Students can reach out to teachers, administrators, or counselors. Student safety is a number 1 priority and students need to be part of the solution and not contribute to the problem with actions that can lead to suspension and or possibly expulsion from the school district. Student behavior consequences will follow them into the next school year and high school regarding suspensions and/or expulsions and sports eligibility. It can negatively impact many opportunities. Please talk to your student about the importance of making good behavior and academic choices daily and solving problems peacefully by getting support from an adult on campus when needed.
With human tragedy impacting public and private schools on a daily basis, there is a strong need for school administrators to implement and enforce numerous policies to maintain order thereby ensuring a safe learning environment.
As a preventative measure, we are implementing random backpack searches. This means that we will select a few classrooms at random on a daily basis and conduct searches in all students’ backpacks in the classroom.
In order to avoid problems for your child, we are asking for your help to ensure that they do not bring the following items to school:
Items that will be confiscated and some of these items may lead to consequences:
Glass bottles
Alcohol / drugs/vapes
Aerosol cans
Mirrors
Junk food such as Takis, hot cheetos, candy, etc.
Weapons of any kind, this includes pepper spray
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support in helping us keep everyone safe. Please make sure you visit our school website weekly for important information. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (805) 488-3644 ext. 1499. Thank you for your continued support and Go Panthers!
Best Regards,
Felicitas Perez, Principal
