Dear Hyde-Addison ES Families,

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our first School-Wide Meeting of the 2022-2023 school year! The students had an awesome time, as they were recognized for demonstrating the core values.

Weather permitting, we will continue to host our School-Wide Meetings outside, on Friday mornings, to support family engagement opportunities, while following DCPS protocols. If you click on this link, https://dcpsstrong.com/health/ and scroll all of the way down to the bottom, you will see the DCPS Central Office mandated protocols around visitors.

Per DCPS:

• Family Access at Student Arrival and Dismissal: To ensure safe school operations, parent/guardians are not permitted into buildings during arrival and dismissal.
• Visitor Policy: To ensure safe school operations, community members and families are not permitted into school buildings without an appointment. Government identification is required for entry.

The Hyde Addison ES team will continue to work with the district to ensure that we have family engagement opportunities, that follow DCPS protocols. The Hyde-Addison ES team will also share updates with families, as applicable.

Our next family engagement opportunity is Back to School Night on September 8, 2022. Information is shared below. Families will be able to engage with Resource Teachers, Inner-Core Teachers, the Student Support Team and other pertinent staff starting at 5:30pm. The first classroom session begins at 5:50pm.

Please be reminded that this is a holiday weekend and students return to school on Tuesday.

Hyde-Addison Elementary School

All students should be in their class lines by 8:30am. Tardies are recorded and monitored. All students should be picked up at 3:25pm. Families that are running late in the afternoon must call the front office to inform them of what time they anticipate arriving to ensure the safety and emotional well-being of the children.

There is typically parking available on the side streets and on P street. But, families may not park in the Kiss and Ride and legal parking on O St. is certainly limited.

If you would like a Kids Ride Free Card for your student, please fill out this short form. They will be sent home in students' backpacks on Mondays.

We are excited to open the library up to families so that you can pick out book with your child on their class's assigned day. Please see below for the date and time!

You are invited to join Champions for a virtual open house to learn more about the program and meet and greet your Hyde-Addison Champions leaders. Time will also be allotted for Q&A.

All students have access to free breakfast and do not need to sign up or register. Information about lunches is more nuanced, based on family circumstance, and can be found here, including how to add funds to your student's account. Click HERE for full details about Free and Reduced Lunch and to access the online application to receive free or reduced meals. Families that do not qualify for free or reduced meals click HERE for meal price information and payment.

To attend school, students must be current with their immunizations. Immunization compliance is documented by submitting a completed Universal Health Certificate to the school at the time of enrollment. A series of medical forms, DCPS School Enrollment Packet.pdf, should be turned in to the school as part of the enrollment process, and any updated forms throughout the school year should be submitted to the school nurse.

&pizza is hosting a fundraiser benefiting the Hyde-Addison Elementary PTA on Tuesday 9/13 from 11am-close. Patrons will need to use the code HYDE at checkout either in the store or on the &pizza app.

The Great Envelope Race is on! The PTA's biggest fundraiser of the year has a goal of $40,000 and 100% participation by 10/31. As of August 30, 2022, the great envelope race results are now at 15% of the financial and 3% of the participation goal! Learn more and give here: www.hydegift.com

Update on Hyde-Addison Before Care - Official Registration Form, and Links for Registration Fee and Monthly Payment

Thank you for your patience while we finalized plans for Before Care! As previously stated, Before Care will begin on Tuesday, September 6. Students may begin arriving at 7:00am and families should walk students to the front door of the school for before care drop off.

In order to attend Before Care, please complete the following steps. If you plan to attend on Tuesday, please complete these steps no later than 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 5.
